As you approach the restored Stables, Cotton cottage and its romantic Jacobean style turret, mullion windows and private garden comes into view. Accessible from both the garden and the cobbled stone inner courtyard, this cottage was originally the Coachman’s house. From the garden, you go up two stone steps into a small hall, with downstairs loo and right into the sitting room. This cottage is decorated in an Indian style, painted a fresh yellow, and has an alcove dining area, comfortable sofas in striped fabrics and a wood burning stove in an Indian gothic fireplace. Paintings, prints and antique furniture enhance the overall design theme. Off a second hallway, entered from the courtyard, the bespoke fitted oak kitchen has rich burgundy and cream tiles and blinds. The staircase leads up to a double bedroom, with its original fireplace, splendid four poster bed and custom made furniture – setting off the rich crimson fabric with its strong floral motif. An en suite shower room and loo has been neatly tucked into the turret. Across the hallway, the twin bedroom in calm shades of green and cream, has specially designed beds and Indian style furniture. We have added a touch of whimsy with mosquito nets for sultry summer nights! Your own private bathroom with hand-held shower is next door.

Entering the original cobbled courtyard under the archway, there is a doorway between the two sets of carriage doors into Malbanc Cottage. You will step into the hallway /boot room, complete with original bridle hooks and bench for leaving outdoor gear after walks around the estate! There is a small downstairs loo and cleverly hidden cupboard for the washer and dryer.
From here you enter into a dramatic and large sitting room with its original beams. It has two seating areas, with comfortable sofas and chairs, a wood-burning fireplace and impressive gothic doors leading into the dining room. Decorated in shades of yellow, cream and grey, with a striking floral printed linen on the curtains, it is sophisticated and elegant. Large picture windows looking onto both the garden and the courtyard give it a light and joyous feel. The flat screen TV above the fireplace ensures easy viewing.
The dining room is understated but powerful, with its high ceilings, original beams and large windows. Striped curtains echoing the sitting room and fabric covered gothic chairs complete the look. The dining room table, set for 8 can be expanded to seat up to 16 persons offering the perfect answer to a group booking when two other cottages next door are rented together.
Up the stairs leading from the sitting room there are two bedrooms, a double and a twin which can clip and link, and which share a large bathroom with separate shower. Designed and decorated to the highest standard, it has a large mirror and is fully tiled with heated towel rail. The double bedroom has the original beams, and is decorated in subtle tones highlighted in mauve and purple. Antique oak furniture complements the contemporary bed treatment. The twin bedroom is decorated in soft tones with a pretty large floral pattern set on a beige linen. Set against a headboard designed with a shelf to place personal belongings, the beds can be clip and linked to make a king size double. The built in cupboard and dressing table/desk in weathered oak complete the room.
Through the gothic arch in the dining room sits a gothic dresser on the right of which is a fabulous kitchen, specifically designed for larger groups up to 16. Integrated appliances, double ovens, large fridges and separate freezer mean enough storage to feed the maximum number. On the left, a door opens into a dressing room with built in cupboard and suitcase storage and a small but elegant double bedroom, which is filled by a huge double bed covered in a fur throw. The en-suite shower room is equipped and decorated to the same high standard found throughout the cottage.

Set in the eaves of the cottage with huge glass windows looking across the dining room, it is decorated in pretty blues and cream. A dormer window looks out onto the garden below. The attached shower room is quirky and original, with beams and tiling and heated towel rail.
The door from the dining room leads into the private garden area, with outdoor furniture and colourful flower beds. It is really the front door, leading from the parking area, down the gravel path. This cottage is perfect for groups of 8 up to 16, its elegant design and impressive architectural features will make it an instant hit.

The cottage gives a very romantic and picturesque impression as one approaches it. From the car park you enter directly into its private garden looking over the rolling organic parkland and its views of the Abbey. The cottage name remembers the famous Duke, who was Lord Combermere's mentor and godfather to his eldest son.
This cottage has recently undergone a decorative transformation! The small entrance hall has amusing military pictures and leads directly onto the sitting room with its parquet floor and wood-burning stove. The elegant soft tones of greens, taupe and gentle reds blend with the subdued paint colours used on the 19th century panelling, and the original bay window with its sitting alcove full of cushions is perfect for afternoons reading and relaxing. You step down into the new updated modern kitchen and dining area with fitted banquette and chairs.
The staircase in the hall, leads up to a landing off which is the elegant master bedroom and en suite shower room in the turret! Newly redesigned in warm plaids and stripes we introduce a luxurious king size bed with fur throw and the curtains frame the original mullioned window. Across the landing is a spectacular double bedroom, looking over the inner cobbled courtyard. Forest green walls frame the gothic wrought iron bed and dramatic floral linens create a dramatic retreat. A cosy single bedroom with its original fireplace (not working) and antique pine bed, decorated in hues of green and a shared bathroom with handle shower.

Empress cottage is named after Elizabeth, Empress of Austria who described Combermere as ‘one of the most romantic places in Europe’ Approached from a shared car park, the box edged pathway leads to its simple entrance directly into a hallway. From which you enter the elegant high ceiling sitting room with original beams, wood burning fireplace and balconied second floor, created from a set of original stalls in the main stable buildings. The tall windows let in wonderful light, which reflects off the antique mirror onto the comfortable sofas and dining area of this spacious room.
A second door leads onto the cobbled inner courtyard. Uncluttered and simply accessorised, with classic prints framed in black, the blues and warm pink fabrics complete its impact. The fully integrated kitchen is separated by an original stall divider.
