Our cottages form part of an historic range of farm buildings, which face each other across a picturesque cobbled courtyard. Perched almost 1,000 feet above sea level and with 6 acres of woodland, meadow and wildlife pond, a large garden with seating, barbecues and climbing castle, plus a well-equipped games room and toddlers playroom, there’s plenty to do for all ages.

Many of our guests hire both cottages together, for up to 15 people – the ideal venue for a peaceful get-together. The Barn sleeps up to 11 in 5 en suite bedrooms including one with a wet-room for wheelchair users. The Stables sleeps 4 in 2 bedrooms and has a shared bathroom. There’s ample room in The Barn for guests from both cottages to dine and relax together.
A short drive takes guests to some of the finest countryside in Britain.

The Barn is the larger of the two converted farm buildings and is a luxurious conversion maintaining many of its original oak beams and stonework, adding to the character. The lounge has a soaring apex ceiling the full height of the barn, and along with the feature fireplace and balcony has a comfortable, yet airy feeling. Please bring your own minstrels for the feature balcony.
Stairs lead to the other four en suite bedrooms, all of which are themed. The triple bedroom is popular with children, with 'Farmyard' pictures. There are two twin bedrooms, 'Seaside' and 'Textile', plus a double 'Boudoir' bedroom. The large kitchen has a range-style electric oven and hob, and has all the usual equipment such as fridge, freezer, washing machine, tumble drier, dish washer.
We welcome disabled guests; the ground floor twin 'Garden' bedroom has a 'wheel-in' shower and there's even a shower chair and toilet riser. The whole of the downstairs of the Barn is accessible to those who are less able. Tap turners are available on request.
In the Games Room there's table-tennis, table football, pool & a dartboard (though for safety reasons we ask you to bring your own darts). There's a TV here, specially for use with games consoles and dance mats etc. Upstairs there's a playroom for under 5's. The dining room also has a secret .. under the huge table top, there's a slate-bed pool table, for evening tournaments after the children have gone to bed.
Outside there's ample parking for 10 + cars if parked carefully. In the garden there are picnic tables & a large wooden climbing frame. Children (of all ages) love to play hide and seek in the wood, and fly kites in the meadow. There are static and mobile barbecues.

The Stables is the smaller of the two 180 year old farm buildings converted by Vicki & Steve in 1999. It can be hired on its own, or as an 'annexe' to The Barn. It's all on one level, though there is a step up to the front door, from the cobbled courtyard.
There's an open plan living, dining and fitted kitchen area, and in all rooms the ceiling is the full height of the cottage, giving a spacious feeling. The two bedrooms are decorated in an individual style; with the double displaying pictures of Derbyshire, and the twin having a musical element. The shared bathroom has a shower over the bath.

The Steadings is the name we’ve given to both cottages when hired together. It’s perfect for groups of up to 15 friends or family to meet up for all sorts of occasions. An added bonus of having both cottages is that guests have exclusive use of all our facilities.
Detailed information about our two cottages making up the Steadings can be found under the individual cottages (The Barn & The Stables), but briefly, you’ll find the following facilities.
There are 7 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms in all; 5 of the bedrooms are in The Barn and comprise 1 double, 3 twins and 1 triple, all en-suite. One of the twin bedrooms is on the ground floor and has a wet-room, which is ideal for less able guests. There’s ample room in the Barn for guests from both cottages to dine and relax together. The Stables is directly opposite the Barn, across a courtyard, and has a double and a twin bedroom with a shared bathroom. Our guests often use this smaller cottage for Grandparents who may appreciate a bit of peace and quiet away from their grandchildren. There are 2 travel cots (with some cot bedding), 2 highchairs and a stairgate available.
Other facilities include our well equipped Games Room and toddlers’ play room plus five acres of grounds to explore, including woodland, meadow and garden with a climbing castle for the youngsters. You’ll find seating areas, barbecues and picnic tables in the courtyard and garden. Oh, and Cappucino, Domino, Rupert & Barnaby (our alpacas) would love to meet you, not forgetting our little Bedlington Terrier Floss!
