North Runcton is a small village approximately two miles from King's Lynn, an historic market town and port. The Queens residence of Sandringham is not far and the house is open to the public when no members of the Royal family are in residence.

Two famous people connected with the village are Michael Caine who was evacuated to The Grange where his mother worked as a cook during the war and Elizabeth Fry prison reformer and Quaker

There is an excellent Oriental restaurant as well as two pubs that do good food within a mile. Kings Lynn, has many cafes and restaurants and a new shopping area and there are also numerous award winning eateries connected with celebrity chefs in the area. The town guided walks that give an insight to the history of Kings Lynn are excellent and The Peter Scott walk along the Wash also starts from Lynn.

There is a small shop on the camping park in the village where newspapers can be ordered and it sells some local produce and basic supplies open from Easter until end of October. One and a half miles away is 24 hour Tesco and a new Sainsburys that should be ready by Christmas. Sainsbury’s and Tesco Waitrose/Ocado all deliver.

Living between the two properties we are always at hand if there are any problems or special requests.

One of the former gatehouses to North Runcton Hall (home of the Gurney family who were connected with the founding of Barclays Bank), the property is an excellent base for touring Norfolk, the counties of Cambridgeshire, Lincolnshire and Suffolk all being close by.

Built in approximately 1850 the cottage was situated on the old Norwich to King’s Lynn road (now by passed) opposite the toll house. When visitors arrived for the hall they were invited into the parlour while someone would run to the hall to see if they were ready to receive them. Unfortunately the Hall no longer exists but the parkland and parts of the old walls can still be seen.
Originally consisting of 3 rooms (parlour ,1 bedroom and kitchen (the toilet was in the garden and you will be relieved to know it no longer is) it has now been renovated and extended. It includes 3 bedrooms ,a king size double with shower en suite, and 2 other rooms with twin beds. There is a separate cloakroom and a bathroom with bath and shower. A fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, washer/dryer, microwave and fridge freezer with separate eating area for 6 and large lounge and conservatory each having HD TV with free view, WIFI is available and outside is a patio for al fresco dining and large off road parking area.
