Fenteroon Farm is tucked away down a long tree-lined driveway, set in 12 acres of Cornish countryside fronted by the River Camel, half-a-mile from the small market town of Camelford, in North Cornwall. Numerous footpaths lead from the driveway into the heart of the town and surrounding countryside. Serious walkers can try the South West Coastal Path, but would need to drive to the start. The coast of North Cornwall is only 5 miles away.
Four barns have been lovingly converted, providing quality self-catering accommodation with all mod-cons. Each barn has oak or slate floors, fully fitted kitchen with beech or granite worktops, washer/dryer, dishwasher, blu-ray/dvd player, whirlpool bath with shower and own garden and seating area. There is also a shared children’s play area, including swings, sandpit and a slide.
Camelford is an ideal base for exploring some of Cornwall’s finest beaches and breathtaking coastline, together with the expanse and solitude of rugged Bodmin Moor. Camelford Leisure Centre offers a 20m indoor swimming pool, fitness studio and tennis courts, and the town has numerous shops, cafes and takeaways, as well as a pub, library ,banks, museum with Tourist Information Centre, art gallery and park. Golf and horse-riding is available one mile away.
Trebarwith Strand, near Tintagel, Widemouth Bay, near Bude and Polzeath are three of the most popular surfing beaches in this area. Some children’s wetsuits are available from the property owner, free of charge. Sailing and watersports enthusiasts can visit Rock, and take the short ferry crossing over the River Camel to Padstow to experience Rick Stein’s fish and chips! Padstow is also the finishing point of the Camel Trail, which links with Bodmin and Wadebridge, and is a haven for cyclists, walkers and nature lovers. Local cycle hire available. There are several National Trust properties and gardens within an hours’ drive, including Lanhydrock House, near Bodmin and Cotehele, near Plymouth. The famous and ground-breaking Eden Project is well worth a visit, and only 40 minutes away.
The coast also provides some picturesque villages which are well worth a visit, including Boscastle, with its 18th Century quay and charming cottages, and nearby Tintagel, famous for its Arthurian legends and castle, which can still be seen. Both a 10 minute drive away. Port Isaac is an unspoilt, pretty fishing village and harbour (Port Wenn in “Doc Martin”), and has plenty of shops and eateries. The nearby moorland villages of St Breward and Blisland are unspoilt and picturesque, and the famous Jamaica Inn stands just off the A30 between Bodmin and Launceston. There is a cinema and adventure park at Wadebridge and bowling alley and indoor soft play area near Bude. The bustling seaside town of Newquay is 40 minutes away, with a Zoo and Aquarium, as well as numerous beaches, pubs and shops.
Smoking is not permitted in any of the cottages.
