Easy to reach being only two hours from West London and half that from the Midlands, it’s an ideal place to get together with friends, family or to just get away from it all. A short walk through bluebell woods leads to the sleepy hamlet of Gatcombe, once a thriving Elizabethan port, and the Severn Way footpath.
In the secluded grounds you will find an all-weather tennis court, croquet lawn and putting green; children’s activity play area with swings, slides, monkey bars and climbing towers; butterfly meadow; plenty of garden furniture and barbecues; an indoor games room with pool table, table tennis, table football, darts; board games, a DVD library and laundry room open 24 hours.
The Forest of Dean has stunning walks through over 25,000 acres of unspoilt forest, cycle paths recently voted the best in Britain, and with attractions such as two steam railways, Clearwell caves, craft centres, a sculpture trail, the National Bird of Prey Centre, Tolkien’s Puzzle Wood and the beautiful lower Wye valley there is plenty to do for all ages. Oatfield makes a good touring centre, with Bath, Cheltenham, Tintern, Ross- and Hay-on-Wye, loads of castles, the Cotswold Hills and South Wales all within a short drive.
