If you want to escape to a picturesque and historic private country estate, surrounded by gorgeous countryside, and stay in one of the eight superbly renovated cottages delightfully located around the courtyard or in the mews close to Maer Hall itself, then Maer is for you.
The 200 acre estate is on the National Parks and Gardens register and boasts a private lake, woodland and meadow walks within rolling countryside. Historical associations abound: owned once by Josiah Wedgewood, whose niece Emma Wedgewood married Charles Darwin in the village church next to Maer Hall; and landscaping by the great designer John Webb in the manner of Capability Brown.
The lovely cottages boast a wealth of exposed beams and character. Each has been tastefully decorated and furnished with quality and style, incorporating original features. All have fully fitted kitchens with solid oak framed furniture and granite work surfaces, 32” LCD TV, free view and CD player and wireless internet connection. Car parking.
Getting to Maer could not be easier. Within about 50 miles or so of places like Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool, Nottingham, and Derby and within 15 minutes of the M6/J15.
A great location for exploring places like Bridgemere Garden World, West Midland Safari Park, The Wedgewood Visitor Center, Warwick Castle Etruria Industrial Museum, Alton Towers, and three local theatres. Newcastle under Lyme’s market, nightclubs, bars and restaurants close by. North Wales is to the west and The Peak District to the east.
A short walk leads to a local craft shop, restaurants, local inns and farm shop. Walking, birdwatching, cycling, fishing, golf, cricket, shooting and horse-riding are all available nearby.
