If you would like to relax in a beautiful and peaceful village, 10 miles from York, at the foot of the Yorkshire Wolds in luxury accommodation designed for your comfort and relaxation, then we hope to welcome you to Bricknell Cottages.
Bricknell Cottages are part of Pear Tree Farm, the title “Bricknell” coming from the herd name of the now dispersed world-renowned Holstein dairy herd. You will be staying in buildings converted from the old milking parlour, hay barn, stable, granary, milk dairy and calf rearing houses in which many of the famous Bricknell cows were born and lived, which is why we have named our lovely cottages after their previous inhabitants! There are wonderful stories behind such names as Ruby’s Retreat, Ethel’s Escape, Peach’s Place, Roxy’s Roost and Clover Leaf - why not come and stay and read all about them?
Times change and we are excited that our handsome buildings have been given a new lease of life which we hope will be as fulfilling as their first. Gerald & Ros have paid amazing attention to detail to ensure that their wonderful holiday cottages provide a myriad of surprises both on the inside and out.

Peach's Place is situated at the very end of the yard with views across our fields. There are 2 bedrooms, one featuring a romantic king size four poster and a large sumptious double ended bath with the other room having twin 3' Beds. Flat screen TV's and DVD players in all rooms as well as suround sound from a DAB radio in the living area. Full use has been made of the timber recalimed from the former buildings to create a soft wooden/rustic feel. All this, together with full central heating, makes Peach's Place a very peaceful and idyllic place to spend your much needed holiday time. |

Clover Leaf Cottage has been created out of the former milk dairy and calf rearing house. A single story cottage it can sleep up to 4 guests in 2 bedrooms. It has a lot of character and lots of special details, timber beams from a sixteenth century house and others from a ship that probably sailed out of Whitby hundreds of years ago. The Indian stone flooring and French doors leading to the patio area complete the picture. |

Roxy's Roost with it''s special mix of rustic and modern, white painted furniture and under-lit double ended bath is a far cry from the building it has been converted from. It has it's own private walled garden with a raised wooden patio area, the wood once again reclaimed from the old buildings, with a view across the fields to the Wolds beyond. |

A place where our guests cannot stop themselves saying "wow". It is very rustic, is heated by a Ground Source Heat Pump and has many unusual qualities too numerous to mention. It has space, peace and quiet and the ability to open up with Ruby's Retreat to cater for 12 guests. The large dining table and range cooker will cater for all your needs and the bedrooms are something else! |

Accommodates up to 6 guests (it will open up with Ethel's Escape to make a stunning cottage for 12 guests). It has an open plan kitchen/living area with a solid oak dining table wrapped around the wall underneath a feature staircase made of canal lock gates. Sofa, rocking chairs, solid wood floor and wood burner complete the picture. All 3 bedrooms have their own individual atmosphere. Heating provided by a Ground Source Heat Pump which collects heat from the soil in the paddock next to the cottages and using a heat exchange system creates the perfect temperature all the time. Large stable door leads to a granite chip and Indian stoned area for dining outdoors or relaxing. |

This cottage is formed by combining Ethel's Escape and Ruby's Retreat which are interconnecting and together can provide luxurious 5 Star accommodation to sleep 12 guests. Please see the individual cottage descriptions for full details of what the Great Escape provides for your stay. |
