LOUISE GETS INTO GEAR FOR MACMILLAN CANCER SUPPORT

Cycling 280 miles from London to Paris in just 24 hours, that’s the challenge 57-year-old Louise Jackson is taking on in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

On Saturday 6 September, Louise will be one of 70 riders to set off at midday from Greenwich, London in a bid to reach the famous Champs Elysee, Paris 24 hours later (Sunday 7 September)

Experience and determination has seen Louise through a ten-month gruelling training schedule, spending long hours in the saddle covering over 1,000 miles in all weather conditions.

This intense challenge of cycling virtually non-stop for 24 hours would be daunting for someone half her age but no stranger to endurance riding, Louise is unfazed having completed many long-distance cycle rides: the classic Lands End to John O’Groats, the French end-to-end English Channel to the Mediterranean, The Irish end-to-end, toured the Pyrenees climbing the famous Col du Tourmalet, and even ‘the Giant of Provence’ Mont Ventoux.

Louise said: “I’m thrilled to be taking part in this event for Macmillan, it is the toughest challenge of my life but I’m determined in the knowledge that the money I raise for Macmillan will help to improve the lives of people living with cancer.”

Together with her husband Gavin, Louise runs a luxury holiday cottage business near Winkleigh in Devon. They are members of luxury property collection Premier Cottages.

Louise is part of an eight-strong team of riders fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support, Premier Cottages’ chosen charity. Last year, its network of members throughout the UK raised over £43,000, well over the £10,000 target, to help Macmillan in its important work in cancer care.
