Crumble Cottages are only a mile from the small medieval town of Cartmel, with three star and one star Michelin restaurants, pubs full of history and character, a famous cheese shop, the ancient Cartmel Priory and even a racecourse! Crumble Cottage is a cosy hideaway cottage with log burner, oak beams, chandeliers and tiny shuttered windows with stunning views of the garden and meadow. ARRIVE at the cottage, unpack then park in the lower car park. We have wash-down facilities and secure storage for bikes. EAT IN and use the excellent fully equipped kitchen with dark oak worktops, fridge freezer and versatile three-way microwave combination oven - no dishwasher but everything else provided including the all important corkscrew! RELAX on the sumptuous couch in the lounge with log stove and window shutters whilst contemplating the carving on the stone mantelpiece rescued from the floor of the byre. Make your way upstairs to the luxurious bedroom with lots of original oak beams and even a chandelier over the bed (swinging from this is discouraged please!). GET READY in the stunning shower room for your big night out, with heated floor, walk-in shower, built-in hair drier, huge heated lighted mirror and separate magnifying mirror. Everything to help make you look and feel special. WAKE UP the next morning and open the shutters to let in the morning sun. Look out of the windows and you have the opportunity to become part of the local countryside with butterflies, deer, raptors, foxes, owls, bats, bees, squirrels and badgers. SIT OUTSIDE with a coffee in the morning sun on the stone bench and try to decide what to do first! End your day with a drink and nibbles in the evening sun on the area cobbled with stones from the byre, surrounded with herbs grown for your use. RELAX in the deep comfortable bed - wooden blackout shutters closed - and lose yourself in the silence and tranquility.

Sarah is a Professional Landscape Horticultural Designer, Stewart has a background in dementia technology and hospitality. We are both passionate about our cottages, having designed them and then undertaken most of the physical renovation ourselves, we feel very proud to have created places that people have said are special and magical. We open the gardens for the NGS charity (Yellow Book) and aside from formal borders we offer a chance to see re-wilding in action. We are happy to help you enjoy the break you want, delighted to offer local knowledge and experience - or to leave you to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of our lovely location. Sarah is always excited to discuss the garden and our plans - or share excess produce. Stewart will talk engineering, old cars, motorbikes or fishing until the cows come home.
