The perfect location for a gathering of family and friends in Eryri/Snowdonia, North Wales. This charming 15th century building has been welcoming guests for over 700 years, since the Knights Hospitallers established a medieval grange here. The ideal base for adventures exploring North Wales' stunning landscape and attractions, or a cosy hideaway for a few days spent relaxing by the fire. A welcoming cottage filled with traditional Welsh features and charm. It's located in the sympathetically converted cart house of Gwanas Fawr, a medieval hall house dating back to 1442. Downstairs is an open plan lounge, kitchen and dining area complete with log burning stove. Upstairs there's one double bedroom, one twin bedroom and a family bathroom. A games room is located opposite, inside the long barn which has ping pong, air hockey and many other games available. There's plenty of secure storage for bikes, sports or walking equipment. Ty Trol is surrounded by a cut flower farm and beautiful farmland which boasts breathtaking views of Cader Idris and the Eryri/Snowdonia National Park. A gentle walk down to the stream takes you to a large paddock with a picnic table, deckchairs, Summerhouse, BBQ area and lots of space for children and dogs to play. Walks up the hill can start from your front door. The night skies are spectacular as the area is located within a designated international dark skies reserve. Situated down a farm track and over a small bridge the entrance is through a private gate and up the drive to an old tennis court where there is ample space to park. Although wonderfully secluded Gwanas Fawr is within easy reach of everything Eryri/Snowdonia and the Mawddach Estuary has to offer. The market town of Dolgellau is only 4 miles away. Can be booked with the next door cottage Ty Neuadd (sleeps 5) for a larger group, gathering or celebration.

We moved to North Wales in 2021 after 3 decades managing the actors and staff working backstage in many theatres across the UK and around the world. We've always had a passion for the outdoors and growing fruit, veg and flowers, this has evolved into the ever growing cut flower farm which now surrounds Gwanas Fawr Holiday Cottages. We live onsite with our 2 Parson Russell Terriers, Albert & Gwen, and Grwndi the friendliest farm cat you'll ever meet!
