Dog-friendly cottages in the beautiful countryside

Ashford Farm is made up of two luxury self-catering holiday cottages packed with character and charm, located just 3 miles from Ludlow - the perfect base from which to explore the scenic Welsh Marches. Each cottage is dog-friendly and welcomes up to two dogs, prior to arrangement and at no extra cost.

Shropshire, the undiscovered county, was described by P. G. Wodehouse as 'the nearest earthly approach to paradise', and the jewel in the county is Ludlow, a gastronomic delight with its upmarket restaurants and excellent pubs. The imposing castle is a reminder of the town's historic importance. Still an active market town, its half-timbered buildings and fine Georgian houses cannot fail to impress.

Explore Acton Scott Working Farm and Museum, site of the 'Victorian Farm' TV series, or head to The West Midland Safari Park. The fabulous Severn Valley Railway is also nearby.

There are some beautiful National Trust properties within easy reach, such as Croft Castle (and Ambrey), Berrington Hall, Brockhampton Estate, Hanbury Hall, Attingham Park, Dudmaston Hall and the unmissable Powys Castle. Nearby English Heritage properties include Stokesay Castle, Witley Court & gardens, Boscobel House, Wroxeter Roman City, Wenlock Priory and Ironbridge Gorge - a World Heritage Site of interest to all!

Walkers will delight in the fact that Ashford Farm is near to Mortimer Forest, the Long Mynd and Cardingmill Valley (NT), the Stiperstones, Clee Hill & Wenlock Edge. The stunning gardens of Hampton Court, Burford House, Stockton Bury & Hergest Croft are also close by.

Meet the owner

Lynda or Norman Tudge

Lynda & Norman Tudge met at Reading University in 1970 and have lived at Ashford Farm since 1974. We continued the farm as a dairy unit until 1989, then a beef unit until 1998. We sold all our livestock and started holiday letting, having built the three original cottages, Grazers, Calvers & Threshers ourselves with the help of local craftsmen, we then went on to develop Well Meadow in 2005 and the Old Bull Pen in 2008. Simply to reduce our work load (old age!!) we now only market Well Meadow and Old Bull Pen through Premier Cottages. We have retained the farmland which is let for grazing sheep and horses. Some of our land furthest away is let to the village fruit farm for growing strawberries and raspberries and some for potatoes and cereals.
