As night falls - Ring and Thimble

Close to the coast

Arrive under a canopy of trees to the bridge across the stream and you enter another world where you can relax and recharge in luxurious, multi award winning cottages set in beautiful surroundings.

Ring and Thimble is a spacious thatched cottage and Peace and Plenty an upside down barn conversion with wonderful views over the gardens and orchard behind.

Attention to detail and the personal touches throughout are just some of the reasons why guests return to Boscrowan year after year. Sustainable tourism is of great importance - trugs of fresh vegetables, salad leaves and fresh herbs in the garden, recycling facilities, indexed visitor information in the cottages on local purchasing, sights, many fine restaurants and much more!

Exceedingly comfortable beds, fluffy white towels and dressing gowns, pure linen and cotton white bedlinen, Villeroy and Boch china, exceptionally well equipped kitchens, fresh home grown flowers in every room – so much to enjoy! There is also a soft furnishings workroom in a converted building on site – the cottages are a showcase for this so Farrow and Ball colours, beautiful curtains and lovely fabrics abound.

Chickens and ducks wander through the grounds, you’ll often find a cat sunning itself in your garden and the two collies always ready for a walk around the fields. Collect eggs, help feed the animals too if you so desire.

Close to both coasts and many of the regions finest beaches and the South West Coast path this is a great location to explore many contrasts of coastal scenery, to ride the waves or swim in some of the finest waters. It’s so worth the journey this far as once here there is much to do and see so close to Boscrowan as it is on a peninsula steeped in history with breathtaking scenery. If you’re lucky you might see basking sharks, choughs, dolphins - there's no shortage of wildlife here. Or visit the many wonderful Cornish gardens with plants you’ll not see elsewhere in the country because of the Gulf Stream and mild climate.

Good public transport - there's the open top bus service in the summer that's an experience not to be missed and the scenic train journey to St Ives from St Erth to see the wonderful galleries including the Tate and the Barbara Hepworth museum, laze on the beaches or enjoy a good meal there.

Ring and Thimble (sleeps 2)

A very spacious, luxurious thatched granite cottage with bespoke kitchen complete with aga, a useful utility room, comfy armchairs, multi-burner stove and patio doors to the outside. Up the ash staircase to a super king half tester bed with silk drapes – plenty of space in here too and a glittering chandelier high up in the beams. Across the landing is a large bathroom with travertine floor, roll top bath and separate shower. Attractive garden with plenty of seating areas.

Peace and Plenty (sleeps 4)

Plenty of light and lovely views in this open plan living area upstairs, accessed by granite steps from the garden. Another bespoke kitchen, central woodburner, oak floor and the living area with low windows to enjoy the outside from the comfort of your chair. Down the stairs to the master bedroom with king size half tester bed with silk drapes and en suite shower room with travertine floor and the twin room across the hallway and separate bathroom. The cottage garden to the rear is full of flowers and patio area for outside eating and barbecues.

Meet the owner

David and Elizabeth Harris

Both originally from Cornwall, David and Elizabeth have been living at Boscrowan since 1999. As well as working tirelessly on the renovation and running of Boscrowan, David also works as an agronomist for a farmer’s co-operative and Elizabeth runs a successful soft furnishings company, Fine Curtains, from a workroom in a converted farm building here. Boscrowan has been a wonderful home to two daughters Jenny and Morwenna who, although now grown up, regularly return and help with duties such as preparing the cottages on changeover day.
