Broadmea Barn is a beautiful, refurbished open plan barn conversion on three levels including open beamed ceilings and rustic stone walls. With two lofty gallery living rooms overlooking the spacious dining area for ten, it's the perfect place for much loved breaks with family and friends. After a long country walk, relax in the sauna or enjoy a soak in the hot tub and get lost in the stars on a dazzling dark sky night.

Broadmea cottages are perfect for family holidays and group getaways, sleeping up to 16 when booked together. Perfectly situated as a touring base for exploring Hadrian's Wall, The Pennine Way and the C2C Cycle route. Take a steam engine train journey from Slaggyford through the beautiful South Tyne Valley to Alston and enjoy the freedom to explore the fabulous footpaths and cycle ways right from the door.

Trout and salmon fishing is permitted on a private stretch of river running through the farm and The Lake District, Scottish Borders and Newcastle upon Tyne with its vibrant Quayside and Metro Centre are all easily accessible by car.

Reviews for The Barn at Broadmea

Meet the owner

Patricia Staley

Broadmea has been a working farm since 1950, consisting mainly of Swaledale sheep. Owners Paul and Trish, the fourth generation of Staleys’ who have operated the 1800 acre farm, began the conversion of the old cow byre and hay store in 2005. The aim of the renovation was to restore and maintain as much of the original 18th century buildings as possible. First guests, welcomed in February 2007, found the end result of this beautiful barn conversion to be a huge success. With its perfect combination of traditional structure and contemporary design, Broadmea has become a wonderfully popular destination for staying in the English Countryside. The cottages are well maintained to keep a modern, updated and stylish feel, including a recent addition of a hot tub for guests when booking the Stable.
