Our most quaint and charming property, with its unusual shaped windows and exposed low beams, was once the Gate Keeper’s Lodge. Round House is detached and although still very close to the indoor pool and other amenities, is a slight distance away from the other cottages, offering its guests more privacy. Round House is unusual, intriguing and probably the oldest building on the estate. You enter through a small porch with stable door into an attractive open plan lounge/dining room. At the far end of the room is a beautifully appointed Shaker style kitchen and a sea view from your kitchen window. Also on the ground floor is a luxurious bathroom with corner bath and integral power shower.
In keeping with a cottage of this period, there is a narrow staircase with low beams on to a landing (taller visitors will need to lower their heads) which leads to two bedrooms. The master bedroom has a king-size bed and glorious views across the valley and to the sea; the second bedroom has bunks and is therefore more suitable for children. This bedroom will also accommodate a cot and therefore Round House is ideal for a family of four or five. However, its secluded location, woodburning stove and luxury bathroom make Round House really popular out of season as a romantic getaway cottage for two.
Adjacent to the cottage, Round House has its own enclosed private garden with seating and barbecue for your exclusive use.
Round House is a dog-friendly cottage.
Activities: There is plenty to occupy the active, including heated indoor and outdoor pools, tennis court, gymnasium, weekly archery sessions in season, snooker, table tennis, table football and pool. There are two play areas and a trampoline and we have a specially designated playroom for under 6’s with adjacent sandpit. Our 18 acre grounds always mean that you can hide away from too much activity should you choose! Broomhill is a short walk from two local pubs serving food, or from Bude Bay with its range of independent shops, fabulous lifeguard patrolled sandy beaches and famous sea pool. It is also on the South West Coast Path with its spectacular cliff walks and stunning views. For the more adventurous, you can experience surfing, coasteering, sailing, stand up paddle, cycling, abseiling, golfing, canoeing, fishing - all available within 1-2 miles of Broomhill Manor with coaching for beginners.
For riders: Riding is a huge part of Broomhill’s heritage and we have our own riding stables with ponies and horses for all abilities. Many children experience their first ride on our Shetland ponies with rides around the grounds for the under 6’s. Our experienced staff are on hand to assess riders' ability and give lessons according to age and experience. Beginners are taught in our own ménage or you can enjoy a family hack around the estate and local lanes.
Leisure building: Our high quality, well-appointed leisure complex houses a luxurious heated indoor pool and excellent family sized Jacuzzi. Also in the building are a sauna and gymnasium and an extremely popular treatment room, where massages and therapies can be enjoyed. The building is also home to a fully licensed bar, and a separate upstairs area where you can enjoy a game of snooker or play a wide selection of family board games.
From May to September we also open the heated outdoor pool surrounded by a sun-terrace with sun loungers where children can swim and play while their parents enjoy the Cornish sunshine!
For young families: We have paid great attention to the needs of families with young children. The all-weather facilities make sure there is something to do whatever the weather. Children love to play in the grounds and on the play equipment, ride ponies, swim in the outdoor pool with paddling area for toddlers and enjoy a safe traffic free environment. Our heated indoor pool and soft play room for under 6’s is also very popular. Some cottages have secure private gardens giving small children a bit of freedom without wandering too far. We supply an unlimited selection of high quality toddler equipment free of charge, including cots, highchairs, blackout blinds, booster seats, changing mats, toddler plates/cutlery, sterilisers, bouncers, socket protectors, potties, toilet seats, baby monitors, sun tents, bed guards and stair gates. We can normally arrange babysitting so that parents can enjoy some quality time together!
Gardens and grounds: Our gardens are a safe but exciting haven for children and a tranquil spot to relax for adults. They are mainly laid to lawn with attractive flower beds, and the cottage areas are adorned with floral tubs and hanging baskets. The lower gardens have specimen trees, ponds and a summerhouse. There are two play areas with swings, slides and climbing frames, plus a trampoline and sandpit which children love! There is plentiful garden furniture on which to sit and the huge front lawn is a great space for a family game of rounders, football or cricket! The cottages (some with private gardens) all have their own picnic tables and gas barbecues.
For relaxing: For those in need of peace, there is always a quiet corner of the gardens and grounds where you can sit and read, snooze or just relax. Our lower gardens are delightfully peaceful, with picnic tables and a summerhouse where you can laze by the well-stocked ponds whilst watching the fish jump for flies, or the dragonflies dart among the waterlilies. You may also be greeted by the odd duck, heron or kingfisher!
