Accessible luxury cottages in peaceful Rutland

Castle Chase Cottages offer luxury, fully accessible holiday accommodation in the heart of Rutland, set within peaceful historic parkland close to Oakham and Uppingham. Each cottage blends modern comfort with original farm character, providing step-free layouts, underfloor heating, private gardens and high-quality finishes ideal for couples, families and multi-generational groups.

The Haybarn is a spacious, light-filled cottage designed for inclusive stays, featuring a generous open-plan living area, level access throughout, a roll-in shower and wide doorways. Its countryside views and private outdoor space make it perfect for relaxed rural breaks.

The Old Stables retains the charm of its original stone buildings while offering contemporary comfort, with airy rooms, yet cosy living spaces and a peaceful bedroom layout. It provides an intimate, characterful base for exploring Rutland’s market towns, walking routes and local attractions.

Guests benefit from EV charging, dog-friendly options, and the unique setting of a long-established family farm, offering a genuine connection to nature, wildlife and the surrounding landscape.

Dogs are warmly welcomed at Castle Chase, with space for up to three so you can enjoy a relaxed, pet-friendly stay in Rutland. Each cottage has enclosed outdoor areas, durable flooring and direct access to quiet countryside walks. A complimentary dog pack is provided on arrival, helping your dogs settle in quickly. The peaceful rural setting and nearby dog-friendly pubs make travelling with pets easy, comfortable and stress-free.

Castle Chase is designed to give you clear, reliable accessibility from the moment you book, with the website FAQs setting out detailed specification, equipment options and practical guidance so you can plan with confidence. All cottages offer step free access, wide doorways, level thresholds and non-slip flooring, with parking close to each entrance. The Haybarn includes a spacious wet room, with shower, grab rails and turning space for most mobility aids, and you can request a shower chair to support safe, comfortable bathing. Mobile hoists are welcome, and the hosts explain room layouts, bed clearances and flooring types so you can check suitability in advance. Strobe fire alarms, surface descriptions and access notes are also included, helping you understand exactly how the space works before you arrive. The aim is to provide a stay that feels easy, dignified and genuinely accessible, supported by transparent information and thoughtful design.

Rutland and Stamford offer a mix of countryside walks, historic landmarks and great food, with plenty of accessible options to help you enjoy the area with confidence. Rutland Water is a highlight, with level paths, accessible bird hides and step-free routes around the nature reserve, while Oakham Castle and Stamford’s Georgian streets provide easy, mostly level access for exploring local history. The market towns are filled with independent shops, cafés and restaurants, many with flat entrances and accessible facilities, including well-reviewed spots in Oakham, Uppingham and Stamford’s town centre. Scenic villages, gentle trails and wheelchair-friendly viewpoints make it simple to enjoy the landscape, and there are several accessible pubs and eateries offering relaxed dining after a day out. The combination of rural beauty, heritage attractions and inclusive places to eat and drink makes Rutland and Stamford ideal for a comfortable, accessible short break. Your hosts will offer a list of accessible places to visit eat and drink if you let them know it would be useful when you book.

The family behind Castle Chase has lived and worked on the farm for generations, and that sense of care shapes every part of your stay. Their approach is warm, personal and quietly attentive: you are welcomed as if you’re an old friend, with thoughtful touches, local knowledge and genuine pride in the cottages and the landscape around them. Because the team is hands-on in both the farm and the accommodation, the service feels grounded and responsive when you need something, unobtrusive when you want privacy, and always focused on comfort, accessibility and a relaxed, high-quality experience. Your stay feels looked after,  personal, and rooted in the values of a family who know the land, the buildings and the community intimately.
