Dog friendly cottage with pub close by

Located in the parkland of historic Wadhurst Castle, near Royal Tunbridge Wells and within easy reach of the seaside holiday resorts of Brighton, the fishing village of Rye and Hastings, Castle Cottage is well positioned for visiting a wealth of National Trust properties, including Hever Castle (Anne Boleyn’s childhood home), Rudyard Kipling’s Bateman’s, and Winston Churchill’s Chartwell, to name but a few.

A charming Regency self catering holiday cottage in East Sussex, this cottage is bright and welcoming with a woodburning fire in a spacious sitting room, and set in its own secluded garden full of cottage flowers. The Estate has stunning views of the East Sussex countryside for miles around.

On the ground floor there is a large sitting room with inviting comfy sofas, a traditional dining table, woodburning stove and lots of books and games. The farmhouse style kitchen has a slate floor, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, gas hob, electric oven and contains all the necessary equipment to assist the cook. A utility area with washing machine and tumble dryer are located in the shower room, which is also on the ground floor.

On the first floor the family bathroom has a cast iron bath with shower over. All three bedrooms are spacious with built in cupboards and have excellent views over the Castle gardens and the High Weald.  One room has two single beds and the other two have zip and link beds which can be made up as singles or king-size beds, as you wish. Please view our website for more details.

Reviews for Castle Cottage

Meet the owner

Fiona Whittington

In 1955 my family moved to Wadhurst Castle where I grew up in the beautiful surroundings of the garden and parkland. We modernised the gardener's cottage in 2009 converting it into Castle Cottage, which I thoroughly enjoyed decorating and furnishing. Fiona manages the cottage and will be there to meet you when you arrive to help you settle in quickly, so you can make the most of your holiday. You can always contact her during your stay if you need anything.
