About & Contact

Stunning Coastal Property - Panoramic Sea Views.

Chaffcombe Lodge is beautifully situated overlooking the ocean in the captivating fishing village of Beer, at the heart of the 'Jurassic Coast' World Heritage site.

Known as 'Devon’s best kept secret' Beer has a delightful choice of quaint village pubs, bistro, Italian and Indian restaurants, a traditional sea side chip shop, and nostalgic wooden beach cafés. Buy fresh fish, or the famous Beer crabs, cooked fresh daily, on the beach, or hire a boat and catch your own. Visit Beer caves, and Pecorama light railway, a delight for all generations.

For guests staying at Chaffcombe Lodge every room is light and spacious with panoramic views along this spectacular coastline. Sitting on the balcony gazing out to sea watching the traditional wooden fishing boats is mesmerising.

The house sleeps 8 guests in supreme comfort, 4 bedrooms, (2 en suite) and is equipped as you would expect of a top quality holiday home, with generous beds and comfortable furniture, white 100% cotton bedding, giant bath sheets, guest controlled heating, little luxuries which mean so much. Guests return to this beautiful house and delightful village year after year.

The dining size balcony is perfectly angled for watching the sunrise over the ocean with an early morning coffee or the glow of the moon across the water with a candle lit dinner, the stuff of memories (and beautiful holiday snaps).

Walk up the lane and you are directly on to one of the most spectacular sections of the South West Coast Path, looking down on to the chalky outcrop of Beer Head, and over to the popular village of Branscombe with its two delightful old world pubs and the Sea Shanty Beach cafe, a fabulous walk or a short drive if you prefer to take it easy.

In March Beer is home to one of the UK’s most popular and oversubscribed cross country runs, not for the faint-hearted, Grizzly by name and by nature.

May brings the Pecorama classic car show, and the floral displays in the village come alive, winner of many a Britain in Bloom award you will be charmed by the array of baskets and tubs throughout the village.

August regatta week means the flags go up throughout the village, and the beach is alive with sailing races, fancy dress rafts, children’s competitions and beach BBQs, a week not to be missed.

In October Beer hosts its very own R’n'B festival, a must for musicians.

At Christmas time Beer really comes alive, what better to be in a delightfully lit and decorated fishing village for the festive season, Beer late shopping is becoming a bigger tradition each year with live reindeer, fire jugglers, majorettes and music, to finish off the festivities, New Years Eve is marked with a fantastic firework display right on the beach.

Guest comments

'Thank you for our stay in your beautiful house'... 'Our best ever self-catering'... 'Still managing to feel relaxed from the lovely holiday'...

'I just wanted to let you know some of the things we loved about your property!: - new dish scrubbing brush - new cloths to use - salt and pepper - washing up liquid - dishwasher tablets - loads of cookware - loads of cutlery/crockery etc.. - lots of sofas in the lounge and playroom - bathrooms were immaculate and very well decorated! - the Christmas tree and wreath were a lovely touch and the tree was particularly lovely! - really appreciated the welcome card and bottle of wine - stair gate was a godsend. The overall house was immaculate!'

Surely one of the most stunning properties on Devon’s Jurassic Coast.

Meet the owner

Julia Hardy

My name is Julia Hardy. I have been welcoming guests to Chaffcombe Lodge in Beer for over 10 years now. I live and work locally to Chaffcombe Lodge, I'm a completely 'hands on' owner, proud to be part of the Premier Cottages family, you deal with me, not an agency or call centre. I am passionate about the coast, having completed over a third of the 630 miles of the Southwest coast path. I hail from the North but have been enjoying life (and lots of ice cream) in Devon since 1997. I run a popular interactive facebook page for Chaffcombe Lodge in Beer. I am extremely lucky to enjoy what I do for a living so much, it is brilliantly rewarding to welcome back guests year after year and I hope I never lose sight of just how blessed I am.
