Feel at home in the Cotswolds

We have lavished care on this Grade 2 listed Cotswold stone cottage and its award winning garden. 'Claypot Cottage' has been completely refurbished and remodelled to combine comfort and style with country living.

Thinking local and supporting the community. The cottage features artwork, which reflects the Cotswolds and much of the artwork, has been sourced within a 10-mile radius. We want to spoil our guests with carefully selected products when they arrive. In nearby Faringdon, they make the wonderful Little Goat Company Soaps, which are in the shower rooms and Cotswold Lavender products offer you a touch of local luxury for your body.

Faringdon is also the birth place of the fudge and Granola that you will find in the kitchen and we purchase Cotswold coffee and UWE tea which is also sourced within this wonderful area.

The cottage offers two light filled rooms on the first floor. 'Birdsong' master bedroom and en suite shower room. Inspiration comes from the 'Dawn Chorus' fabric, designed by Cirencester based Vanessa Arbuthnot. With its muted tones of Farrow and Ball Wimbourne White and French Grey, this is a restful space to reflect on the day’s activities or read a book whilst curled up on the window seat. A king-size bed and crisp white cotton sheets, luxury pillows and duvet combine to create a restful slumber-zone.

There is enough room for a travel cot in this room if required.

The shower room has a large walk in shower to treat yourself to an invigorating shower.

'The Wild Hare' Second bedroom

‘Harry Hare’ adds a comic touch to the decor in the second room. With two small single beds, this is an ideal room for one or two children. Alternatively, with a king-size bed, this provides a comfortable bedroom for a couple. There is not room for a cot in this room if the bed is made as a king-size, If two singles, the cot will squeeze in between these two beds.

Downstairs, the cottage has been redesigned to offer comfort and space.

'The Potting Shed' bedroom (or chill out zone). Reference here to the Famous Gardener Rosemary Verey who created the wonderful gardens at the Barnsley Hotel down the road and who wrote so many books on the subject. With a cushion filled daybed, this is the perfect space for relaxing or it can be used for a single guest. This bed is not suitable for children under 12 years of age.

'The Beehive' kitchen

The Cotswolds has a plethora of honey producers … look out for some of their products in the kitchen. This brand new kitchen has everything you need for your time away with good storage space, dishwasher, fridge and freezer, freestanding cooker and washer/dryer. Ample work surfaces provide space to create a gastronomic delight using some of local produce. Overlooking the lovely cottage garden you can pop outside for an alfresco meal on the patio.

For less formal meals, you might choose to eat in the lobby are which overlooks the garden or you might settle in for the evening in the dining hall with its lovely rise and fall light and seating for 5.

Comfort in the 'fold'

When one thinks of the Cotswolds, you cannot help but think of the rolling fields filled with cotton white sheep. Reason enough to indulge in the living area with its Cotswold sheepskin rug, Burford Wool throws and fabulous Ram painting by local artist Roger Poole.

Enjoy the comfortable sitting area where you can settle down in front of the TV. On dark winter nights light up the real fire and enjoy the long evenings in front of the fire with your feet up.
