Crumble Cottages are the perfect romantic retreat for couples, tucked away close to the idyllic village of Cartmel, on the edge of the Lake District National Park, and just 15 minutes’ drive from the motorway. Each luxury self-catering cottage has been lovingly restored and both are crammed with period features including thick stone walls, exposed oak beams and a cosy wood burner. In addition, there’s free wifi, secure car parking and extensive gardens, plus Upper Crumble even has its own secluded hot tub. The cottages are the ideal base for cycling or hiking around the nearby Lake District fells or watching the local wildlife. You can also enjoy Cartmel’s superb gastropubs or treat yourself to dinner at the world-famous, Michelin 3 starred, L’Enclume restaurant.
Sarah is a Professional Landscape Horticultural Designer, Stewart has a background in dementia technology and hospitality. We are both passionate about our cottages, having designed them and then undertaken most of the physical renovation ourselves, we feel very proud to have created places that people have said are special and magical. We open the gardens for the NGS charity (Yellow Book) and aside from formal borders we offer a chance to see re-wilding in action. We are happy to help you enjoy the break you want, delighted to offer local knowledge and experience - or to leave you to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of our lovely location. Sarah is always excited to discuss the garden and our plans - or share excess produce. Stewart will talk engineering, old cars, motorbikes or fishing until the cows come home.
