Crumble Cottages are only a mile from the small medieval town of Cartmel, with three star and one star Michelin restaurants, pubs full of history and character, a famous cheese shop, the ancient Cartmel Priory and even a racecourse! Upper Crumble is a stylish conversion of an old cart barn. Large floor to ceiling windows to the front let the light flood onto the oak floors and thick lime-plastered walls. A bright and airy exciting space where the countryside spills in through the front windows. The cottage also includes a private courtyard with hot tub - perfect for stargazing. STEP in through the glazed door. Drop off your bags then park in the lower car park. We have wash-down facilities and secure storage for bikes. PREPARE nibbles and drinks or cook a romantic meal. All you need is in the fully equipped kitchen, fridge with freezer box, three-way microwave combination oven and washing machine dryer - no dishwasher but everything else provided including the all important corkscrew!. LAUNCH yourself onto the super-sized sofa and start to relax. If you are staying in, draw the curtains, light the log stove and dim the lights. Later, retire up the stairs, take a last look through the owl hole at the setting sun and climb into your king-size bed. FRESHEN up after a day in the wilds or before heading out for that special evening with an invigorating rain shower. Enjoy the warm heated slate under your feet and feel the heated fluffy towels. There is a steam-free, lighted mirror so nothing will be missed. WAKE UP and sit at the dining table enjoying the beautiful view and plan your day. So much choice: walks from the door, a wander around the medieval village of Cartmel, lunch at a famous restaurant or just a soak in the hot tub. SIT OUTSIDE with your coffee in the morning sun listening to the sound of the countryside all around you. Later, hide round the corner on the stone bench, pour a glass of wine and enjoy the wonderful view up the field in the afternoon and evening sun. RELAX in the deep comfortable bed - blackout curtains drawn - and lose yourself in the silence and tranquility.

Sarah is a Professional Landscape Horticultural Designer, Stewart has a background in dementia technology and hospitality. We are both passionate about our cottages, having designed them and then undertaken most of the physical renovation ourselves, we feel very proud to have created places that people have said are special and magical. We open the gardens for the NGS charity (Yellow Book) and aside from formal borders we offer a chance to see re-wilding in action. We are happy to help you enjoy the break you want, delighted to offer local knowledge and experience - or to leave you to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of our lovely location. Sarah is always excited to discuss the garden and our plans - or share excess produce. Stewart will talk engineering, old cars, motorbikes or fishing until the cows come home.
