Dandelion is a quaint countryside hideaway that provides an intimate getaway for two close to Hadrian’s Wall, the Lake District National Park and the Scottish Borders. With high-end furnishings throughout and luxury additions, such as the hot tub and modern wood-burning fireplace.

You’re probably imagining a pretty cottage garden, roses over the door and accommodation that’s designed for relaxing with views over rolling, green countryside. Dandelion Cottage could be that idyllic remote retreat for your next luxury break. Awarded 5 star GOLD by Visit England and finalists in the Cumbrian Tourism Awards.

The woodburner in the lounge will keep things cosy while the kitchen is equipped for making either a romantic meal or a lazy breakfast.

Dandelion Cottage has a modern walk-in shower, the SMART TV and a covered hot tub in the enclosed garden as well as wonderful views. It looks out over the surrounding countryside from its gorgeous picture windows.

The garden is a delightful space to relax in peace, taking in the views of the surrounding countryside and wild life. This is also where you’ll find the luxurious covered hot tub which is open on one side to the garden so you’ve all the privacy you need. The ideal place to enjoy an indulgent soak in the hot water with a glass of bubbles. You and your loved one can relax here with a drink as the sun begins to set and the stars come out at night.

Dandelion Cottage is found down a short lane, off the beaten track and feeling remote and secluded. If you’re planning a self-catering break in England, Dandelion Cottage is ideal as a base for exploring. Just a 20-minute drive away, are the fells and attractions of the Northern Lake District National Park – you can be out among the Wainwright hills and lakes in next to no time. Hadrian’s Wall is approximately a 20-minute drive.

The Eden Valley with its sandstone villages, winding river and great local food and drink is also close at hand. Just beyond Eden is the North Pennines area of outstanding natural beauty. With its wide open moorlands, characterful villages and mining heritage, it's still an oasis of calm.

To the north you can quickly access the wild places and hidden gems of the Borders and southern Scotland.

Kathreen Burns

When Kathreen and Mike Burns decided to convert their barn at Low Flanders near Carlisle, they had a vision of the holiday accommodation they wanted to create – luxurious and indulgent, making the most of outdoor as well as indoor space and a great base for exploring the best of what’s on the doorstep. After months of hard work, perseverance and imagination, Dandelion and Hoglet Cottages were ready for visitors in the summer of 2020.
