Heather Cottage hot tub

Two stunning and luxurious cottages, each with its own private hot tub

Heather and Honeysuckle cottages are two completely separate, individual, romantic, beautifully and sympathetically restored period cottages in an idyllic village setting in the heart of the Derbyshire Dales. They each have private parking with pretty cottage gardens to the front and far reaching views down the village towards Alport and the hills beyond. Resting in their own individual and completely separate and private enclosed terrace gardens, guests staying in Heather and Honeysuckle will find their own Canadian Spa hot tub, hot bubbling and waiting ... (no sharing here!) Each cottage is finished to the same stunning high standard but with its own special style and character.

Traditional and modern blend effortlessly in these stunning cottages and as you would expect each has a fully equipped kitchen, superb master bedroom with handcrafted super king-size beds, luxurious en suites and stylish decor along with a wealth of original features, original artwork and atmospheric lighting.

On arrival, guests will find an array of treats waiting for them to discover. From wine chilling in the fridge, chocolates to sample and homemade bread and cake - to bathrobes, slippers and luxury toiletries. (Not to mention a full farmhouse breakfast for all those who care to make the short trip to Dannah - if the self in self catering seems a little too onerous - included in the price, of course!)

The unspoilt village of Kirk Ireton, situated on a ridge above The Ecclesbourne Valley, with its famous real ale pub - The Barley Mow Inn - is the perfect setting for these beautiful cottages. Located within easy reach of all the delights this wonderful area has to offer, from stunning scenery, cycle trails, famous historic houses, and quirky little villages to the thrills and spills of Alton Towers. Carsington Water, renowned for watersports and sailing is within walking distance and the area abounds with footpaths just waiting to be discovered. The tiny village shop is extremely well stocked and, as well as the basics offers an array of extras - from freshly made ready meals to order, artisan bread and cakes baked in the village to daily newspapers and dry cleaning!

Luxurious and intimate retreats, exclusively for adults, these sumptuous cottages really are self catering taken to new heights. Think romantic 5 star boutique hotel without the intrusion of any staff where you can relax under the stars in your own private Canadian Spa hot tub. Take a peek at our website to see each of these cottages, both of which have just been awarded the highest accolade from Quality in Tourism - 5 Star Gold!

Meet the owner

Joan Slack

We are Joan Slack and daughter-in-law Helen, joint owners of Heather and Honeysuckle cottages. We bought Heather in 2011, thinking it would take just a few months to renovate. Some two years later it was standing to attention and our first guests arrived! Heather Cottage was a great success and when Honeysuckle next door came up for sale we couldn't resist! The two compliment each other beautifully, finished to the same stunning high standard yet completely individual, each with its own special style and character. Martin, Joans' husband and son James, Helens' husband, farm Dannah Farm, part of The Chatsworth Estates at Shottle and Helen teaches English locally. Joan and Martin also run Dannah Farm Country House where they have lived since the 1980's. With four sons, seven young grandchildren (three of them James and Helens'), a busy accommodation business and two cottages, life is never boring!
