Luxury and comfortable accommodation situated in one of the most picturesque White Peak rural settings, Milldale, a hamlet of Alstonefield is situated in the heart of Dovedale providing the perfect base for family or gathering friends for a getaway in the great outdoors to enjoy the walking, cycling, fly fishing in the majestic scenery and life of the Peak District National Park. A year round destination.

Two Five Star Gold cottages situated a few paces apart in the heart of the attractive hamlet. Both cottages sleep up to 6 guests and have been recently upgraded to offer modern day living with home comforts to ensure a comfortable stay. Door step walks to Dovedale, cycle trails along with many other local attractions including quality country pubs ensure a warm welcome to the Peak District.

Both Duck and Riverside Cottages have all the modern day conveniences with open dining areas for casual suppers to well equipped kitchens, cosy living areas with woodburning stoves and luxury furnishings ensure a welcoming retreat at the end of the day. Fully carpeted bedrooms with pocket sprung mattresses and fresh cotton bed linen are supported by well appointed bathrooms with toiletries inspired by the British countryside. The outdoor terraces are a perfect way to appreciate the beautiful countryside setting.

Milldale is situated eight miles from the market town of Ashbourne and is in the heart of a walker’s paradise with a plethora of walking and cycle trails from the doorstep. The Peak District National Park has many pretty villages to explore with historical interest and the famous country houses of days gone by with Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and Kedleston Hall are worthy day trips. Family fun days at Carsington Water, Castleton Caves, Heights of Abraham and Crich Tramway Museum are a must, learn to climb or play golf, there really is something for everyone.

We found Duck and Riverside Cottages after a long and detailed property search having returned back home to the Peak District and are enjoying escaping back to the great outdoors of the peaks and dales and of course our favourite country pubs. We have thoroughly enjoyed our challenge of upgrading the furnishings in the Five Star Gold Award Duck Cottage and have completely renovated Riverside Cottage to provide two comfortable luxury family holiday cottages. Our careers have taken us overseas and on our travels we have always enjoyed paying attention to the detail of what contributes to a luxury comfortable stay away from home. Our daughter who is studying abroad and an old boy of a black Labrador who loves to walk and swim along the River Dove. The Peak District has a huge amount to offer and we look forward to welcoming you to Milldale.
