A quintessential chocolate box cottage and hot tub

The Old Sweet Shop is a quintessential chocolate box cottage - with a hot tub in a pretty garden.

Sleeping eight in four bedrooms (three are en-suite), you will find high-quality furnishings, bedding, towels and linen. There is a king and twin on the top floor, and a double and king on the ground floor. Each room has its own personality and is named after favourite childhood sweets.

The large kitchen/dining room is perfect for socialising. There's a dual fuel range cooker, dishwasher, fridge, microwave and everything you need to rustle up a wonderful meal - or indulge in a takeaway. Dine on the farmhouse table which seats eight comfortably. In the adjacent utility room you will find a fridge/freezer, washing machine and tumble-drier.

There's a large living room with three sofas and window seats. Guests love our armchair, positioned right next to the wood-burning stove. The mantel over the fireplace retains the burn marks from hot toddies made in years gone by. We treasure the building's the historical features including the sweeping staircase, thick stone walls, beams, and the original sweet shop window.

We have high-speed Wi-Fi, Netflix and Sky.

The pretty cottage garden has furniture for al fresco dining for everyone. Sit in the summer house and enjoy the peace and quiet in this tranquil conservation area - high up in Minehead's Old Town. From here you can listen to the lambs bleating and spot buzzards overhead.

We are child and dog-friendly. Kids will find books, DVDs, games and toys in the cottage for children of all ages. For dogs, we provide baskets and throws, towels, bowls and mats for your four-legged friends – and a treat on the welcome tray.

On-site parking for two cars.

Exmoor is England's smallest National Park and extremely varied. To one side is the sea and inviting beaches, to another purple heather humming with bees on the moor.

Add to this magical ancient woods, fields and hills in a green tapestry, and sheltering villages peppered with thatched cottages. Ancient castles, stately homes and historical gardens abound. The steam and whistle of the puffing West Somerset railway seems to add the finishing touch.

It is also a dark skies reserve - and there's nowhere better to stargaze than from one of our hot tubs.

Lucy who owns the cottages wrote a book of walks and places of interest called 'The Little Book of Walks' to help guests decide where to visit. As a Premier Cottages guest you will receive a free copy on your welcome tray to help you plan your stay - however long you are with us.

Owner Lucy bought The Oval, a medieval cottage in Dunster in 2008. She loved sharing her home with guests so much that by 2018 she had a portfolio of four character cottages in Exmoor. Today the team is as passionate as ever about offering beautifully furnished and decorated self-catering properties, where high spec appliances and high speed Wi-Fi sit alongside historical features such as thick walls, thatched roofs, squint windows, large fireplaces and cruck beams. Our properties are well-equipped with everything you need for a self-catering break. We provide toys, books, DVDs and games for children as well as stairgates, high chairs and travel cots. Dog owners will find bowls, baskets and mats and treats. We are especially proud of the high standard of our cleanliness and maintenance. Our gardens and hot tubs are loved by visitors. Lucy speaks to every guest before arrival to ensure the best possible experience. Whatever the time of year, and however long your stay, you will find a very warm welcome in all our cottages.
