Dog-friendly cottages in the Scottish highlands

Gask House is a converted 19th century agricultural steading offering two dog-friendly, contemporary, four-star luxury self-catering cottages.

The two luxury cottages, Clava & Corrimony, form one part of the steading and were formerly home to various livestock, prior to their conversion to holidays cottages. Both cottages have underfloor heating, woodburning stoves, fully equipped kitchens, smart TVs and WiFi.

The cottages are contemporary open-plan in design, bright & airy and equipped with just about everything convenience you can think of, to make your stay as comfortable and relaxing as possible.

Within easy reach of Inverness, Loch Ness, Cawdor Castle, Culloden Battlefield, the Cairngorm Mountains and all that the Scottish Highlands have to offer, our self catering accommodation is set in a stunning, peaceful rural location with open views to the Monadhliath mountains, yet is just a 15 minute drive from the Highland capital.

The cottages are an ideal base for fishing, golf, walking, whisky trails, mountain biking and winter sports, not to mention the chance to see Loch Ness, castles and enjoy all the culture of the Highlands. For golfers, there are three championship golf courses close by including Castle Stuart (20 mins drive), Nairn Championship (35 mins drive) and Royal Dornoch (1 hour).

Gask House has its very own 4,000 year old Neolithic Ring Cairn within our 20-acre grounds, which guests are welcome to explore. Located in the peaceful and rural Strathnairn valley, just a few miles south of Inverness, close to the small communities of Farr and Inverarnie. Bounded by the Monadhliath mountains to the south, Strathnairn valley has cradled humanity for thousands of years and was once a key Neolithic trade route.

The area is renowned for its Jacobite connections and is set in the heartland of Clan Chattan - a confederation of clans comprising Clans MacKintosh, MacGillivray, Shaw, MacBean and MacPherson. It is said that some of these clans met at the Gask standing stone before the Battle of Culloden. In a nearby wood is the sharpening stone. It is also said that some clansmen who were gathering here before the Battle of Culloden sharpened their swords on this very stone.

We accept upto 2 dogs in each of Clava and Corrimony Cottages. The Gask House Labradors are always happy to make new friends! Both cottages open out into an enclosed, communal courtyard and, in addition, Clava Cottage has its own enclosed patio area.

STL Licence is HI-50238-F, covering both cottages.

EPC rating is C for both cottages.

Meet the owner

Gill Fordyce

Chris & Gill moved to Gask House in November 2019, having lived and worked for many years in Edinburgh and East Lothian. We enjoy all that the Northern highlands has to offer, including the space, tranquillity and sheer beauty. We love sharing our passion for the area with our guests. Gill is a keen gardener, and you will see the fruits of her labour all around you, even if it is always seems to be a work in progress! Gill is also very proud of her hens and ducks, and the fresh eggs are always a bonus! Chris is an avid golfer and can found hacking his way around Nairn GC, whenever there is any free time. We live on-site is Gask house with our three Labradors Wish, Breagha and Luna.
