Reconnect with nature Spend sunny days exploring the countryside on your Shepherd’s Hut holiday. Stroll up Old Winchester Hill and admire the views stretching to the sea, before visiting a welcoming local country pub. Your Shepherd’s Hut Holiday We’re located in a secluded meadow surrounded by ancient woodland, close to Hambledon in Hampshire, within an International Dark Skies Reserve in the South Downs National Park. There’s nothing better than gazing at the canopy of stars above you when sitting around the campfire! Butser and Old Winchester shepherd's huts have wood-fired hot tubs and the tiny glamping houses, St Bride's and The Wriggy Inn, are both en-suite. Guests arriving at each hut receive a welcome pack including packet of biscuits, apple juice, wine and marshmallows (to toast on the campfire!), as well as tea, coffee and sugar. Dogs are welcome (maximum 2 per hut) and receive their own welcome pack including treats and a new toy. Wood-burning stoves to cook on, and to keep you warm in all huts and tiny glamping houses (except Tiny Tin, which is an additional hut and does not have a kitchen). Cooking equipment is provided including outdoor equipment to cook on the campfire; there's a firepit outside every shepherd's hut and tiny glamping house. Our rural location is perfect for off-grid Shepherd’s Hut holidays – we’re just over an hour away from London. There's lots to see and do in the area with excellent cycling and walking from the shepherd's huts. The historic cities Winchester, Southampton and Portsmouth are all 30 minutes away and quaint local market towns Wickham, Bishop’s Waltham, Petersfield, and New Alresford, are the base for many artisan makers of wonderfully unique products. An idyllic romantic getaway - several couples have got engaged here! Or maybe Glamping at Wallops Wood is ideal for your family get together? We can help you plan a glamping Shepherd’s Hut holiday to remember.
Katherine and Andrew Graham are the owners of Wallops Wood in Hampshire. Katherine’s family have been farmers here since 1938 and the family diversified the farm estate into office lettings and light industrial units. In 2014 and 2018, farm barns on the site of the Old Hambledon Racecourse were converted to holiday cottages and a swimming pool complex. In 2022, Grenville at Wallops Wood opened and comprises three beautiful holiday houses in a leafy woodland site. The houses are accessible accommodation with wetrooms and have a home-from-home atmosphere, with the emphasis on ‘access for all’ irrespective of age or physical ability. The family acquired the Shepherd’s Huts Glamping business located at Wallops Wood in February 2023. Eight Shepherd’s Huts are situated in a secluded meadow and surrounded by ancient woodland within the South Downs National Park in Hampshire. Two of the huts have wood-fired hot tubs, and two have en-suite facilities. Other huts are perfect for couples and families, and dogs are welcome too. Katherine and Andrew look forward to welcoming you to Wallops Wood in beautiful Hampshire.
