About & Contact

Award-winning, dog-friendly holiday cottage

The Forge is a lovingly-renovated, stone-built character cottage.

We have recently won the Luxlife Travel and Tourism award for Best Dog-Friendly Cottage in Ceredigion and are also extremely proud of our Customer Service Excellence Award 2023. Please follow us on Facebook or Instagram to see the story behind the renovations.

With a fully-fitted kitchen and modern bathroom complete with walk-in shower and wooden Japanese dipping tub. It has a mezzanine nest-bedroom accessed by a spiral staircase and a stunning inglenook fireplace with woodburner. The external wooden deck overlooks the enclosed, private garden and beyond to the surrounding woods and fields.

The modern tiled wet room/bathroom has a walk-in Mira shower and wooden Japanese dipping tub with heated towel rail and candle-filled window sills, just perfect for a bit of 'me-time.'

We have designed a perfect mezzanine nest-bedroom accessed by a spiral staircase, through sheer voile curtains. The mattress is topped with a deep-filled, sumptuous mattress topper. The beds can be made up as a super king-size bed or two single beds to suit requirements. The bedlinen is all super-soft, luxurious quality sheets, duvet covers and pillow cases from The White Company and Secret Linen including electric blankets for cosy evenings.

The kitchen is fully-modernised with Denby kitchenware, dishwasher, microwave, fridge/freezer, fan oven and halogen hob and not forgetting the Lavazza coffee machine with compostable pods. From cooking a full Sunday roast to pizza on knees in front of the woodburner, you will find everything you require for your culinary needs. Not forgetting that when you need a night off I can provide meals fresh from our freezer for you!

The living room has a woodburner, with logs and kindling supplied for a warm, toasty evening. Smart TV with full internet access and Bluetooth speaker. There is a dining table and chairs, sink-into sofa and swivel arm-chair. If you need remote working access, there is excellent broadband speed and a gate-leg table which can be set up as a desk if required. With double French doors which open out onto the wooden deck area, it is a delightful living space.

The modern fully-tiled bathroom/wet room has a full-height, walk-in, Mira shower. Delivering plentiful hot water. There is also a hand-made wooden Japanese dipping tub. This is a unique bathing event not to be missed, where you are cocooned in an abundance of warm water - a truly relaxing experience. With plenty of fluffy White Company towels, heated towel rails and candle-filled window sills, this is the perfect bathroom for a little bit of 'me-time.'

The external wooden deck with atmospheric lighting overlooks the private, enclosed, dog-friendly garden. The perfect place for bird-watching, star-gazing or just deep-breathing. Beyond the garden are the extensive grounds, meadow, stream and fields. The meadow and woodland walks are available to guests for walking or wandering, with dogs or without. There is a living willow dome next to the stream for sitting in, lying in or meditating in, the choice is yours!

The Forge is accessed down a well-lit, woodland path from the parking area. Approx. 30m. It is a gentle slope and a trolley is provided to help with your belongings, groceries or dog if required!

We are perfectly positioned in Southern Ceredigion. Just a few minutes from the rugged West Wales coastline. From windswept isolated coves to some of the most beautiful, sandy beaches the United Kingdom has to offer. The recently renovated Ceredigion Coast Path is a walkers paradise. Just to the south of us are the Preseli Mountains, where the Stonehenge standing stones originated from. There is plenty of local wildlife, seals and dolphins are regularly spotted and views across Cardigan Bay and further afield across the Irish sea are phenomenal.

The area is steeped in magical Celtic history and fables. There are a huge variety of historical places, ancient woodlands and neolithic burial grounds to explore. We have industrial museums, cheese manufacturing, gin distilling, pilgrimage walks and smokehouses on the doorstep and plenty of more adventurous activities just a little further afield.
