Nestled in a 16 Century setting

Luxury retreat in the heart of Dorset

Just two and a half hours from central London and within easy reach from the Midlands, Hammoon Manor is the perfect base to discover the beauty and history of Thomas Hardy’s Dorset, or what we like to think of as our ‘Hidden England’, a place where you might be forgiven for thinking that time has stood still or perhaps moves just that little more slowly.

The surrounding area and region including the world heritage sites of Stonehenge and the Jurassic Coast, Longleat, Sherborne Abbey and Castle, Shaftesbury, Dorchester, Salisbury Cathedral, Bath and much more are all within easy reach. Alternatively, you might choose to just enjoy our walks, or relax in the gardens and do nothing.

Hammoon Manor Barn comprises two discreetly interconnected adjoining barns (‘The Walled Garden’ and ‘The Appleyard’) which may be individually booked for smaller parties of 2 to 4 guests. When combined together via their interconnecting doors they comprise the entirety of ‘Hammoon Manor Barn’ and sleep 8 adults in 4 double bedrooms with three en suite bathrooms and a family bathroom. (One of the super king-size double beds can be separated to create two large singles if required).

All living areas have internet-enabled TVs and Bluetooth audio systems, and there is high speed WiFi throughout. Woodburners and underfloor heating ensure it is always snug and comfy all year round.

All external doors lead directly onto private gardens, incorporating outside dining, and barbecue areas. There is also a covered private hot tub exclusively for your use.

The kitchens include all modern conveniences you would naturally expect including, dishwasher, microwave oven, hob, built-in oven and fridge freezer and a dining area for 10+. In the utility room, there is a washer dryer and an additional deep freeze and a downstairs cloakroom.

Hammoon Manor Barn is ideal for larger parties of up to 8 guests, or for smaller groups or families holidaying together seeking single accommodation, but with the option to enjoy their own independent space and privacy when required. A great place for adults with perhaps the children tucked away next door!

As for country pursuits, we have clay pigeon shooting close by, and beautiful walks right from the accommodation.

Whether you stroll along the River Stour, visit Hammoon’s 13th century church (that incidentally never closes and all are very welcome), enjoy the hot tub or a barbecue, or seek to explore the beauty and history of Hardy’s Dorset and beyond, you are always guaranteed the very warmest of welcomes.

A picture speaks a thousand words, so please visit our gallery of photos to view the interior features and surrounding gardens.

Meet the owner

Steven

Many years ago living overseas, I came across a picture of Hammoon Manor (I believe in the Times). I thought what I wouldn’t give to live in such a picturesque house in such idyllic surroundings never thinking for a moment that I could be so blessed. Yet here we are - a story in itself! Having completely restored the house and converted the barns to luxury holiday cottages, we are truly blessed to live in such peaceful and idyllic surroundings in Thomas Hardy's Dorset with all its history and beauty. It always gives us such pleasure to see out guests enjoying Hammoon and all that Dorset and the surrounding area has to offer. There is so much to experience and see, from the world heritage sites of Stonehenge and the Jurassic Coast, to Longleat, Sherborne Abbey and Castle, Shaftesbury, Dorchester, Salisbury Cathedral, Bath and so much more are all within easy reach. Alternatively, you can just enjoy our walks, and relax in the gardens and do nothing!
