About & Contact

Romantic, cosy and luxurious Cotswold retreat

A beautifully formed romantic cottage ideal for intimate relaxation. Hazelnut has separate kitchen and a combined living and sleeping area and a lovely en suite bathroom. Warm terracotta floors and rugs, high vaulted ceilings with truss beams, an open fire and hardwood fittings throughout add to the charm of this cottage. Medieval style slit windows in the exposed stone walls afford tantalising views of the Swere valley below while the main windows look out on to the flowers and herbs of the beautiful courtyard. There's a circular hardwood dining table for two and large sofa to relax on whilst snuggled by the open fire. Just outside the door Hazelnut has its own small outdoor table and chairs (except in winter), feel free to use the Chiminea or fire pit. Guests are welcome to wander the gardens and explore our 70 acres of private woodland and flower meadow and make use of garden and games facilities including Games Lawn with croquet, badminton, volleyball, badminton and host of other equipment stored in the games shed. We even have an outdoor yoga stage and model aircraft flying strip which also doubles up for kite flying (kites in the games shed). We have an indoor games room with table tennis and pool table, a host of games and a large screen projector for movie nights. We are also part of the Walkers Welcome and Cyclists Welcome schemes which means have a drying room (we also supply wellies and waterproofs), safe bike storage area and extensive information on local walking and cycling routes in the area. Every attention has been given to provide superior crafted, natural luxury for your pleasure. VisitEngland’s unique Gold awards are given in recognition of exceptional quality within a property’s star rating, or for outperforming a star rating which Hazelnut does. We have also been awarded Gold by Green Tourism for our commitment and policies towards our environment. We do not accept pets but we do have our own dog in the grounds. We also have chickens, sheep, goats and a couple of geese. There's so much to do in the local area you'll be spoiled for choice. Great restaurants and pubs for eating and drinking out, historic castles and stately homes, fantastic independent retailers and a wide range of local attractions from brewery tours to theatres. Do look on our 'out & About section' under 'resources' of our website for full listings. Located between the villages of Great Tew, Swerford, South Newington and Wiggington. Heath Farm is in the middle of nowhere yet on the edge of everything! Great accommodation for sightseeing in Oxford, Stratford Upon Avon and the surrounding Cotswold countryside. Blenheim Palace is also a 15 minute drive away.

Reviews for Hazelnut at Heath Farm Holiday Cottages

Meet the owner

Nena and David Barbour

Nena's Spanish heritage and personality influenced the flavour and style of the design and décor of the cottages: the careful attention to detail and scrupulous attention to cleanliness, while the abundance of lavender, herbs and flowers reflect Nena's love of gardening and tasteful eye. David's love of traditional skills and materials is evident in the stone masonry, woodwork and locally commissioned ironwork in the buildings. Today, David continues to manage a joinery, and maintain the property and grounds and spends a lot of time mowing and doing odd jobs! Nena continues to manage the holiday lets with the help of their daughters Abi & Lucy and son Mon and a small dedicated team keeping the cottages fresh, supplied, updated and clean. She also makes the beautiful flower arrangements with flowers picked from her garden, season permitting. Their daughter Abi and son Mon now also help with bookings, administration and any guest queries. Whenever David and Nena can they work in the garden but as busy grandparents this is not quite as often as they'd like!
