Perfect location for enjoying town and countryside

Stratford-upon-Avon is a charming market town situated on the banks of the beautiful River Avon in the heart of rural Warwickshire. Home to William Shakespeare, it has a rich architectural and cultural heritage, and special atmosphere - a perfect holiday destination at any time of year.

Heritage Mews enjoys an excellent location in a peaceful setting close to the River Avon in Stratford-upon-Avon’s interesting Old Town area. The historic town centre with its picturesque streets, beautifully preserved half-timbered buildings including Shakespeare’s Birthplace, riverside parks and gardens, and world famous Royal Shakespeare Theatre are a ten minute stroll away. Discover the fantastic range of award-winning restaurants, fine dining, pubs, bistros, coffee shops and tearooms – many with outdoor terraces or by the river. Enjoy excellent shopping, with galleries, antique centres, interesting independent shops and lively traditional markets.

Enjoy the delightful riverside walk into town and to the theatres past nearby Holy Trinity Church, one of England’s most beautiful parish churches situated on the banks of the River Avon (where you can visit Shakespeare’s grave), past an old pedestrian chain ferry, the last of its kind in Britain, and the famous ‘Dirty Duck’ inn, frequented by Royal Shakespeare Company actors, and with a terrace overlooking the river. Or stroll along peaceful Avon Valley footpaths through parkland and out into adjacent Warwickshire countryside.

Heritage Mews is an award winning modern cottage with two bedrooms comfortably accommodating three guests and one infant in a cot. Downstairs off the hall is a bright, modern kitchen looking out onto the pretty front garden and quiet tree-lined street, and a sitting/dining room with a Sony smart full HD television, DVD recorder, Roberts DAB sound system with iPod dock and unlimited WiFi internet access, password protected.

Step out from the sitting/dining room into the attractive, sunny secluded courtyard-style garden, perfect for summer outdoor dining and relaxing. Beautifully maintained and planted for colour and interest in all seasons, it is a delight to look out onto throughout the year.

Upstairs are the bathroom, with mains-powered shower over the bath, and two elegant bedrooms - a double with a queen-size (5ft) bed and a single (3ft bed), both with comfortable pocket-sprung mattresses and luxurious Sheridan cotton linen. Two Dyson 'Cool' bladeless portable fans are provided. A ‘Mamas & Papas’ beechwood baby’s cot with linen can be added to the single bedroom on request and a range of baby equipment is available – please ask for details.

Heritage Mews has private off-street parking for two cars within the mews - a real benefit in the town, where on-street parking is restricted and often in high demand.

Stratford-upon-Avon has an award winning daily guided Town Walk and interesting open-top bus tours of the town centre sights and nearby villages, visiting Mary Arden’s House in Wilmcote and Anne Hathaway’s Cottage in Shottery. Hire a rowing or motor boat to explore the tranquil river, enjoy a sightseeing cruise aboard an Edwardian pleasure launch or relax at a riverside coffee shop or brasserie.

Heritage Mews is a great base for exploring the nearby Cotswolds and south Warwickshire countryside. Within a short drive are the beautiful Cotswold villages of Chipping Campden and Broadway; internationally renowned Hidcote Manor Garden; Warwick with its antique shops and magnificent medieval castle; and many interesting National Trust properties, including Charlecote Park, Baddesley Clinton, Upton House and Coughton Court.

Flexible short breaks, 2 nights or more, are available throughout most of the year (except Christmas/New Year) - perfect for savouring the delights of Stratford-upon-Avon to celebrate a special occasion, see a play at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre or just enjoy a relaxing weekend or mid-week getaway.
