Perfect location for enjoying town and countryside

Stratford-upon-Avon is a charming medieval market town in a beautiful riverside setting, surrounded by glorious Warwickshire countryside - a perfect holiday destination at any time of the year. Heritage Mews is a delightful town cottage ideally located in a peaceful setting close to the River Avon, 5 to 10 minutes’ walk from the town centre, with its fine historic buildings, Shakespeare attractions, riverside parks and gardens, many excellent restaurants, and world-famous Royal Shakespeare Theatre.

Enjoy the delightful riverside walk into town and to the theatres past nearby Holy Trinity Church, where you can visit Shakespeare’s grave. Soak up the town’s wonderful atmosphere exploring picturesque streets lined with half-timbered buildings, including the 15th century Almshouses, magnificent Guildhall, Shakespeare's Birthplace, The Garrick Inn and Harvard House. Explore Stratford's fascinating history and architecture on the award-winning daily Town Walk. Hire a rowing or motor boat to explore 3 miles of tranquil river, or take a cruise aboard an original Edwardian pleasure launch. Enjoy peaceful circular riverside walks, follow Avon Valley footpaths through beautiful Warwickshire countryside, relax at a waterside cafe, or take in a show at The Royal Shakespeare Theatre.

Discover Stratford's fantastic choice of places to eat and drink, including excellent fine dining restaurants, bistros, pubs, coffee shops and tearooms, many with outdoor terraces or gardens – all within a 10 minute stroll from the cottage. For fine dining, try Salt in Church Street (awarded one Michelin star), No. 9 next door, or Lambs of Sheep Street situated in a beautiful beamed 16th century house. Nearby is The Vintner bistro, The Garrick (Stratford’s oldest pub) and Edward Moon English Brasserie. For something a little different take afternoon tea at the Fourteas 1940s themed tearoom, dine at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre's Rooftop Restaurant, or relax at the Riverside Café or on the terrace at the famous Dirty Duck inn. With so many excellent eateries in town, you will be spoilt for choice!

Discover great shopping at Stratford’s traditional weekend markets, interesting independent shops, antique centres and galleries.

Enjoy a 5 Star Festive Break from 25 November 2021 when Stratford's wonderful Christmas Lights are switched on, with late night Christmas Markets every Thursday and the town's famous Victorian Market from 9 to 12 December. Details on our website Christmas Breaks page.

Heritage Mews is a great base for exploring the glorious Cotswolds and Warwickshire countryside. Within a short drive are the quintessential Cotswold villages of Chipping Campden, Broadway (known as the "Jewel of the Cotswolds"), Blockley and Stow-on-the-Wold, and many excellent country gastropubs such as The Fuzzy Duck in Armscote. Discover beautiful gardens including internationally renowned Hidcote (National Trust), Kiftsgate, Bourton House Garden and Batsford Arboretum. Explore the market town of Warwick with its antique shops and magnificent medieval castle. Visit Compton Verney Art Gallery set in beautiful 'Capability Brown' parkland. Discover the wealth of National Trust houses and gardens within a short drive, including Charlecote Park, Coughton Court, Baddesley Clinton, Packwood House, Upton House and Snowshill Manor.

Heritage Mews is a modern town cottage with two bedrooms comfortably accommodating three guests. Downstairs off the hall is a compact, fully-equipped kitchen looking out onto the pretty front garden and quiet tree-lined street, and a bright and comfortable sitting-dining room opening onto a delightful courtyard-style garden. Step out from the sitting room into the beautifully-maintained, sunny and secluded garden. Planted for colour and interest in all seasons, the garden is perfect for summer outdoor dining and relaxing, and a delight to look out onto throughout the year. Upstairs are two charming bedrooms - a double with queen-size bed and a single, both with comfortable pocket-sprung mattresses and luxurious Sheridan cotton linen. The bathroom has a shower over the bath, with thick fluffy Turkish cotton towels provided - a bath sheet, bath towel and hand towel for each guest.

Private off street parking for two cars within the mews provides a real bonus in Stratford-upon-Avon where street parking is restricted and in high demand.

Flexible arrival dates and short breaks are available all year (except Christmas and New Year weeks).
