5* dog-friendly cottages with private hot tub

Kernock - the perfect location for exploring Cornwall and Devon.

Cottages

Superb attention to detail and 5* comfort will keep couples, groups and families happy. The 22 acres on this private estate will keep you entertained with a lot of nature, and especially in the 6-acre secure dog park 'Central Park'. Dogs are very welcome – they get their own welcome pack, and there are dog-friendly beaches nearby, and lots of fabulous walks locally and on site. The 4 stylish detached cottages each sit in their own garden, and each cottage has its own luxury hot tub with gazebo over it. No chintz here, just crisp bedlinen, goosedown duvets (unless you're allergic ...), hardwood flooring, comfortable leather sofas and peace & quiet. We are extremely baby friendly with a wide range of baby equipment, all provided free of charge. Our smallest guests get a baby hamper too. Choose from 4 detached luxury cottages, sleeping from 2-6 (10 if you book Owl and Tree together) plus cots. Most bedrooms are en suite and each cottage has a garden, terrace and barbecue, WiFi, iPod dock, flatscreen TV... Kitchens are fully equipped with all mod cons (dishwasher, washer/dryer, freezer, etc), making cooking easy. Bedrooms have lovely pocketsprung mattresses and king or super king beds. Each has an en suite bathroom with powerful showers (or bath with shower), in which you will also find White Company bathrobes, luxury Temple Spa toiletries and fluffy towels. Everything you need for a relaxing holiday. Heather Barn is wheelchair-friendly (NAS M3A). There are loads of things to do locally, whatever the weather and only 10 miles from the beach; Kernock is perfectly located for exploring this beautiful hidden corner of Cornwall.

At Home

22 acres of mature gardens, woodland, paddocks and fields to explore, with great views. Lots of dog walking space – there’s the fenced area with woods where they can safely run off the lead - Central Bark. The cottages have enclosed gardens providing a secure space for dogs. There is abundant wildlife – owls, badgers, foxes and rabbits galore! Watch the majestic buzzards soar over the valley in the daytime and borrow our telescope and planisphere to explore the breathtaking night skies (with little ambient light, we do good stars!), which are perfectly viewed from the comfort of your private hot tub!

Activities

Choices, choices… We offer guests complimentary membership to China Fleet Country Club (pool, spa etc) – great for rainy days. St Mellion golf is 2 miles away. For lovers of houses & gardens, Cotehele, Antony and Mount Edgcumbe are all nearby. Local beaches are dog-friendly (as is the Eden Project). Animal lovers have donkey, monkey, owl and otter sanctuaries within easy reach, and Dartmoor Wildlife Park is 20 minutes’ drive. Adventure seekers can 'fly' the UK’s longest zipwire, go coasteering or karting at Menheniot, do the aqua park at Adrenalin Quarry, or tree-surf at Gunnislake (both <10>miles). Walkers are spoilt for choice, either locally in the beautiful Tamar and Lynher valleys, or Dartmoor and Bodmin both within 20 minutes, as is Caradon with the famous Minions and Cheesewring. The gorgeous south coast beaches are 9 miles away - great golden sand at Whitsand, or fabulous rockpooling at Seaton and Downderry (buckets and spades provided). The largest World Heritage site in the UK is on our doorstep - Cornwall Mining Heritage - a wealth of history and culture. Siblyback has a wakeboarding cable, other watersports, fishing and Segway. Plymouth has a great theatre, several cinemas and lots of galleries and restaurants for those wanting a city day out. If you don’t want to cook, walk to the 12th Century Weary Friar in the village for lunch or supper.

Meet the owner

Damian and Louise Orton

Hello, we are Louise and Damian Orton. We are loving being the owners at Kernock Cottages, in south east Cornwall. It’s fantastic to be working together, and as the same effective team that we’ve always been in raising our family. Our successful careers have been focused on delivering service to others, and doing our best for our ‘customers’. Running Kernock gives us this same fulfilment and joy, and our outlook is simple – let’s give our guests the best possible holiday experience. We have an excellent team who assist us, and their emotional buy-in to our customer service is unquestionable. We have 3 grown children who love to help when they can. There’s also our cockapoo Jaffa – who features regularly in our publicity. We wish everyone out there the best of health and happiness, and would love to see you at Kernock whether for the first time or a repeat visit. Louise and Damian
