The Lewis Longhouse is a luxurious home-from-home, close to the beach in an area of peaceful, natural beauty on the Isle of Lewis in the Scottish Outer Hebrides. We believe it is a special place to relax and want the experience always to exceed expectations for our guests. From this old family croft near the beach, you can just step out the door for great local walks along the beach or over moor. Enjoy it too as a great base to explore the wider sights of Lewis and Harris. This stunning, low-impact building is a modern take on traditional Lewis houses, comfortable in its surroundings, but with contemporary design and energy-conscious technology to make your stay a pleasure, whether a family, couple or travelling solo. It is fully equipped to the highest standard with all you need for a perfect stay. The spacious double–height open plan living/dining/kitchen area has large windows bringing the outside in and glass doors opening south onto a large wraparound deck. Upstairs is a quiet relaxing area upstairs with an unusual viewing balcony and WiFi-connected office space, ideal if you want to have an amazing office location for a change from home! In an idyllic location to explore history, culture and wildlife, and just a few minutes walk from the most local beach, the house has wide, uninterrupted views to watch the world go by and weather change throughout the day. The quality relationship we have with our guests where we proactively respond to any help needed to make your holiday in the Outer Hebrides the best it can be sets us separate to the rest. I was born in Stornoway and have spent a lot of time on the island over the past half century! Paul was born in Sheffield but loves Lewis as much as I do, from our first trip to the island together about 30 years ago. The Longhouse is on an old family croft, on dad’s side (the MacLeods) and was built to our own specification in 2012 so I could keep my connection to the island. Though we couldn't live much further away, now in Somerset about 750 miles door-to-door, we still love to share all we know for eating out, walks, day trips, beaches and places to visit etc. Offering the house to guests for holidays means our lovely longhouse is happily lived in when we cannot be there and others get to enjoy the island and all it has to offer too!
