About & Contact

Luxury and tranquillity in a seaside village

Mulberry Barn is a traditionally styled modern house, but carefully designed to fit into a conservation area surrounded by grade 2 listed buildings. Handmade tiles and bricks, serpentine walls, cedar cladding and a well laid out garden (mainly lawn) all ensure the house adds to the character of this special area of Milford village.

The ground floor is dominated by the large open plan kitchen, bar, dining and living area which leads out through patio doors to the large south facing terrace – great for alfresco meals, coffee breaks or just enjoying the sun.

Also downstairs is a large study/playroom – ideal for hobbies, keeping in touch with the office or constructing a Lego kit. Here too, the patio doors open out onto the south facing terrace.

There is also a generous utility room with washing machine, tumble dryer, airing racks and butler sink plus masses of room for boots and coats. The downstairs cloak room also has a walk in shower.

Upstairs the master bedroom faces south and has views across to the Isle of Wight. The room has a king-size bed which can be split into two comfortable singles. The en suite bathroom has a large free standing bath, basin, toilet and bidet.

The second bedroom also has a king-size bed which can be spilt into singles. The en suite bathroom has a large walk in shower, basin and toilet.

Both bedrooms are large and can easily accommodate two cots or a child’s futon bed plus a cot.

For entertainment there is a 37 inch wall mounted flat screen plasma TV with all free view channels in the sitting area with surround sound. Other facilities include a DVD/CD player, a DAB radio and a Roberts 63i internet radio (just amazing!) with iPod deck. We provide a selection of guides and maps for many local walks – both forest and coast. There is also a ‘Bluetooth’ printer whilst hair dryers are provided in both bedrooms.

The garden is mainly laid to lawn in front of the patio area and terraced lawns to one side with no prickly plants. We have a selection of sun loungers and garden chairs, a barbecue, buckets and spades, crab fishing gear and a few other outside toys. The garage is available for storing bikes in. The private driveway, with lockable gates, can accommodate two cars.

An EV charging point (7kw) is available by the garage.

Just a short stroll from Mulberry Barn is Milford village which has a good selection of shops, pubs (4), restaurants (5) a traditional fish and chip shop, a lively wine bar and five places to enjoy a coffee.

The beach and cliff tops are a 10 minute walk, Keyhaven and Hurst Castle ferry is a mile away whilst the timeless beauty of the New Forest National Park is just a short drive. The Georgian market town of Lymington is close by and here you can catch a car ferry to the Isle of Wight or enjoy the lively Saturday market. Beaulieu National Motor Museum and Paultons Park (home to Peppa Pig World) are also close by. What to do!

Finally we provide a complimentary permit for 39 local car parks including the nearby beaches.

Reviews for Mulberry Barn

Meet the owner

David Danby

We moved to Milford on sea in 1991 and have never regretted our decision! The proximity to coast and New Forest National Park proved to be irresistible and has led to many hours of exploration, fabulous walks and enjoyable restaurant and pub visits. In 2005 we finally got planning permission to build Mulberry Barn in our large garden. The spacious house was carefully designed by us as to how we would like to live rather than how a developer would have us dwell. We would be happy to help our visitors with suitable walks, places to visit, children’s’ activities or local restaurants and pubs to visit, many of which are within easy walking distance.
