Located on the peaceful 500-acre private Orroland estate, Cutlar’s Lodge is a detached and spacious two-storey cottage, with all the facilities you need for a magical holiday, combining nature, sea, and serenity near Kirkcudbright, complete with panoramic views over the Isle of Man and the Cumberland hills.
It’s a five minute walk to your nearest neighbour, so you can freely enjoy your privacy amongst the beautiful, landscaped grounds that the lodge is set within, as well as your own enclosed garden, complete with a charcoal barbecue and garden furniture on which to enjoy the sun.
The 500 acres of land is a shared space for guests of Orroland’s three holiday homes and the family who call the estate their home.
Whether it’s summer or winter, Cutlar’s Lodge will accommodate all your needs. It’s just a stone’s throw from the wildflower meadow and private loch, with the seashore only a 15-minute walk away.
If you’re craving complete solitude, why not take a book or a yoga mat down to the large flat rocks on the shore and enjoy the calming sounds of the waves?
Nature-lovers will be tantalised by the plentiful rock pools, waterfalls, and large flat rocks, and private woodland trails. The site has an abundance of wildlife, with roe deer, red kites, and red squirrels roaming the lush flora of the estate. We recommend enjoying your morning coffee in the sun porch with views across the wildflower meadow, rolling fields and sea.
And in the slightly cooler months, you can cosy-up in the sitting room and make a fire in the roaring cast iron fireplace. We’ll supply you plenty of logs to keep the fire going while you cook dinner and play board games.
Cutlar’s Lodge has all the facilities you could need, with the kitchen well-equipped with an induction hob, microwave, oven, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer. It even comes with its own simple games room, complete with pool table and table football.
You won’t even miss your own bed at home. Cutlar’s Lodge offers top of the range Hypnos beds, for guaranteed comfort, as well as pure cotton linen and big fluffy bath sheets. You’ll have full control over the central heating during your stay and there is always plenty of hot water.
On the first floor, you will find a twin room and a king-size bedroom, both with a hand basin, while the downstairs bedroom next to the shared bathroom is perfect for multigenerational getaways.

Babies and children are warmly welcomed here. We can provide a cot and highchair for little ones, for which please bring your own cot bedding. We can also provide stair gates, fire guards, toys, games and books.
Orroland is a truly safe environment for kids to explore, ride their bikes around, climb trees, make dens, or look for tadpoles in the loch.
Cutlar’s Lodge is close to some of the best mountain biking in the UK - the famous 7Stanes mountain biking network. It offers trails for all different levels of ability. Orroland isn’t far from Dalbeattie (12 miles) or Mabie (22 miles) for the perfect day’s biking. And when you get back home, you can wash your bike using the outside tap before storing it safely under cover in the garage.
