About & Contact

Character cottage in rural village

A warm welcome awaits guests staying in this award winning, impeccably clean cottage. The owners Jackie and Ray have tried to think of everything.

It has solid oak and tiled flooring throughout. An Eco friendly central heating system and cosy woodburner with plenty of logs. There is lots of up to date technology including free super fast WiFi. The bedroom has bespoke wooden furniture with super king-size bed and quality cotton bed linen. There is a modern tiled bathroom with shower over the bath, towels, robes, slippers and toiletries.

Outside, the private parking has a car charging point, the pretty garden has seating and 'The Shed' houses plenty of logs and kindling, extra garden seating and barbecue, a freezer with ice and the 'doggy' washing machine and dryer!

Spend mornings strolling through the National Trust's picturesque Bickerton Hills or immersing yourself in history at Beeston or Peckforton Castle. Explore the walled city of Chester, with its 1000-year-old cathedral and the largest Roman amphitheatre in Britain. Once the day is done return home to the cosy crackle of a real fire. Enjoy magnificent views stretching to Liverpool's two cathedrals, the Welsh hills, Cheshire and Shropshire. Explore the historic city of Chester and visit some of the 18 National Trust places within a 30-mile radius. The cottages are also within easy reach of several dog-friendly pubs that you can visit after a day spent discovering glorious Cheshire.

Reviews for Granary Cottage at Sandstone Trail Cottages

Meet the owner

Jackie & Ray Pearson

After living and working in rural France for 9 years, Jackie & Ray, along with Amie (the bi-lingual French Labrador), moved back to the UK. Amie died aged 14 yrs. We now have a rescue collie type from the streets of Romania. She is called Cally. We were searching for something a bit special. We had worked together project managing property conversions and were often asked to continue looking after them for the absent owners as holiday accommodation. A run-down bakery, with worker's cottages and grain stores were beguiling. The location, a small rural Cheshire village, fantastic countryside with walks and views, yet not far from a wonderful Roman city, Chester. It all felt perfect. We were able to indulge our interest in modern green technology whilst keeping the original character of the building. We are proud of our Gold Green Tourism Award, and in 2019 we were awarded the Visit England Rose Award in recognition of service excellence.
