Romantic self-catering cottage for two

Nestled high on the Lancashire & Yorkshire border near Skipton (the Gateway to the Dales), Shawclough Barn boasts breath-taking views from one of the highest hills in Pendle.

Whether you are planning a romantic trip, an idyllic getaway for two, or you just fancy a few days out walking this one-of-a-kind retreat is the place to be for fabulous natural scenery which can all be appreciated from the stunning wood fired hot tub, patio area and breath-taking feature windows. The barn is the perfect place to base your getaway: we are perfectly suited for day trips to the Yorkshire Dales, the Lake District and picturesque towns such as Harrogate, Skipton and Ilkley. An hours drive will take you to the famous Blackpool Tower. The Barn is also a short stroll across the fields from our cosy local tavern.

Shawclough Farm was a working farm until the late seventies when the land was sold off and it started its domestic transformation. Shawclough Barn was the second of two barns added to the original farmhouse and would have housed cattle downstairs and chickens upstairs. The farm dates from circa 1900 and was located in an area known as 'Black Lane Ends'. Little trace is left of this area, a few references in historical articles and one remaining signpost on Wharley Wise Lane opposite your most local pub which has also adopted the name 'Black Lane Ends Tavern'.

Access to Shawclough Barn is via the delightful private farm driveway. The Barn is self-contained enjoying a south facing aspect with private parking and patio / hot tub area. Inside you are welcomed by its warm and cosy open plan living area, magnificent homely kitchen, and a dining area enjoying a panoramic view over the tranquil landscape.

We wanted to treat you to all those things we would love to have in a cottage. Stylish wood burner, cosy and capacious sofa, incredible views out across the landscape over to the moors and a sense of history through the contemporary lighting reminding guests of the area’s former textile history. Upstairs the luxury continues with a super king bed uniquely styled under A-framed beams and featuring a freestanding roll-top bath to relax in, resting beneath Velux windows. Adjacent there is an absolutely stunning separate wet-room with wood-effect tiling, walk-in 'rain shower', twin basins and WC. Outside you can relax in private on your own patio, fire up a BBQ and soak in the hot tub taking in the view for miles. What’s not to like!

Welcome to our romantic retreat high in the hills of Pendle on the Yorkshire/Lancashire border. Theressa and Greg bought Shawclough Farm in 2016 and set about creating a family home and converting the barn into stylish holiday accommodation. The farm dates from circa 1900 and was located in an area known as 'Black Lane Ends'. Little trace is left of this area, a few references in historical articles and one remaining signpost on Wharley Wise Lane opposite your most local pub which has also adopted the name 'Black Lane Ends Tavern'.
