When Hastings House was created our aim was to provide the best experience we could for our guests, whether that be comfort, location, facilities or atmosphere, the only thing we can't guarantee is the weather. But ... in the North Northumberland Coastal micro climate we are often astounded at just how great that can be and how often.
Hastings offers 5 star gold quality, without being pretentious, we're more than happy for you to kick off the shoes, relax and enjoy yourself. So if that means grannie teaching the kids to bake, or the kids challenging Dad on the Wii, we're equipped to make that, and more, happen in spades. We more than welcome kids and K9's, and provide all sorts of goodies to keep them occupied too, from the giant outside chess board, to beach games, fishing nets and of course the hot tub, but we do draw the line at Fido getting in there!!
This last 18 months or so has made everyone acutely aware of standards of cleanliness, and we have pledged to continue our levels of property preparation going forward. This together with our policy of being green clean and eco friendly has proved challenging on occasion but our objectives have been met and will continue to be implemented.
We are located just a mile from glorious sandy beaches, part of the Northumberland Coastal AONB, three miles from Bamburgh Castle, and less than a 10 minute walk from the harbour where boats leave Seahouses for the Farne Islands for a wildlife experience that's hard to beat. There's lots to discover right here and an abundance of sightseeing, walking, watersports opportunities and history just a short drive away too.
For those with specialist interests there are many local golf courses within a 10 mile radius, birdwatchers and photographers head for the Farne Islands or inland to the Cheviot Hills, cyclists can reach pedal perfection on Sustrans Route 1, with dozens of circular routes to explore, head over to Keilder if mountain biking is your forte.
Getting here couldn't be easier, by car we are 20 minutes off the East Coast A1. 15 miles north of the nearest main line rail station (London to Edinburgh line), or make us a weekend break on a walking or cycling linear route and have the hot tub to ease those aching muscles. St. Cuthbert's Way, and St. Oswalds Way both pass just a short distance from the house.
The fantastic kitchen with its centre island, granite work surfaces, catering size pans and dishes provides the facility to make a beach picnic, an alfesco snack on the deck or a sit down gourmet dinner. The dining room easily seats 10, and the glazed door gives access to the outside deck and hot tub. Enjoy alfresco dining outside, relaxing on our deck chairs, playing giant size chess, or just chillin in the tub.
Underfloor heating and two log burners make this a year round destination for short breaks or weeks.
