The open sided farm tractor shed was incorporated into the Old Cartshed build in 2011. The design afforded the opportunity to mix the old with the new. Traditional and rustic original materials met technology, eco warrier alternatives and some pretty inventive re-purposing.
We've always had a nod to the environment and in many of our other holiday properties had the normal green policies like compositing and recycling, but have taken things just a wee step further in the Old Cartshed whilst not being totally sandals and cheese plant in our approach.
So if you didn't know that 550 plastic bottles make a bedside rug, just check when you step out of bed - we challenge you to notice the difference. Or how about a rustic bed head made from old window shutters or the 'electric' velux blinds that work by the power of the sun.
The cottage is ideal for a family of four or friends gathering together to explore North Northumberland, in particular our fantastic coastline and everything it offers. From building sand castles to visiting one, from dining on lobster to spotting crabs in the rock pools, from watching Hogwarts at the movies to standing right where it was filmed.
Book with the kids and for the very young we'll provide cot and high chair, and a welcome box with things like changing mat, baby monitor etc, depending on their age, or if your more inclined to bring the furbabies, and indeed have both, we provide a doggy box with bowls, towels, toys etc and a personalised welcome bag of treats.
In the cottage you'll find a host of information, maps and guides, and lots more besides via the Alexa and smart TV to help you with your days activites.
It's only a 20 minute walk to the village and nearest pub/eatery, and a mile from fantastic sandy beaches means that once you've parked your car, there's lots to do on foot from the cottage door.
The cottage has 2 bedrooms, one a super king double with en suite shower room, the other a king (which can be small twins on request) and is also en suite with a bath with shower over.
The lounge / kitchen / dining area is open plan, with underfloor heating and a log burner for cosy autumnal and winter breaks, and doors out to the courtyard for summer alfresco dining, barbecues, etc.
The Old Cartshed has been graded 5* Gold Award by VisitEngland since it was completed in 2011, so offers the levels of quality and comfort that you have come to expect, whilst providing an environment where you'll be happy to kick off the shoes, relax and enjoy time with family, friends and the four legged variety too.
