About & Contact

Grade II listed dog-friendly romantic cottage

Set in the heart of rolling Devonshire countryside close to the Devon and Cornwall border, the fabulous Swallow Barn offers two guests rustic blissful escapism from the pace of everyday life. This beautifully designed Grade II listed Barn is furnished farmhouse style with exposed beams, stripped floors and cosy furnishings. The classic wood burning stove adds to the romantic feel of the cottage and ensures a warm welcome home in colder months. The stunning vaulted bedroom has a super king-size bed and is equipped with plasma TV. The bathroom has a lovely deep tub and twin sinks. Swallow Barn is a dog-friendly holiday cottage, and dogs will enjoy exploring the five acres of rolling surrounding countryside. The cottage has a private parking space and an independent entrance. Best of all, it has its own secluded courtyard, where you can relax, glass of wine (or the farm's homemade cider...) in hand, surrounded by a private, far-reaching vista of the countryside. It's the perfect backdrop for a cosy break away together.

Meet the owner

Sue & Simon Chaplin

We have lived in this peaceful part of Devon for almost 20 years. Swallow Barn was converted some 8 years ago and we have welcomed guests for some 7 years. The Barn is the only building converted here and has complete privacy. Simon is a retired GP. His hobby is fishing in between maintaining the 5 acres we have for Sue's Dressage horses. We hope you enjoy this delightful part of Devon as much as we do.
