Dog-friendly holiday cottage with glorious views

Bramble's Barn is a gorgeous 17th Century threshing barn which was used as a byre for Bramble, our Jersey cow. This luxurious dog-friendly holiday cottage is an ideal setting for a fabulous break with the family. The ground floor: M3 wheelchair accessible and can used in conjunction with Valley View via internal doors, which is on the same level. The cloakroom has an M3 shower toilet and washbasin. The remainder of Bramble's is M1, H2 and V1. The floors are solid hardwood and areas with risk of slipping have specialist 'Altro' flooring. All heating is underfloor, taps are lever action. Bramble’s has an air re-circulatory system ensuring a pleasant change of air. The ground floor has a fully equipped quality ‘Alno’ kitchen fitted in 2015 with Miele appliances, with sufficient room to entertain 8 for dinner.

Sit back, relax and unwind with your favourite programmes on the HD Smart TV with Freeview, or watch a movie on the Blu-ray player, or just listen to some music on the Stereo with iPod dock. Free WiFi is also available throughout the cottage. Craftsmen have incorporated local materials mostly oak and other hardwoods, to update the structure and yet not compromise the original feel of the building. A tasteful blend of ancient and modern ensures a comfortable and relaxing stay. After a restful night in the en suite double or twin bedroom, wake up to distant views and birdsong; a lovely start to the day. Outside, children and dogs are safe to roam within our 12 acres of enclosed pasture, which is surrounded by ancient hedges and mature trees. The enclosed rear patio is safe for children and dogs and looks out over the setting sun. Gather around the table and enjoy an al-fresco meal or a barbecue. Here you can relax with a drink and good book on the mezzanine, which offers fantastic views over the unspoilt Garron Valley. Buzzards and kites soar, and songbirds sing their hearts out, butterflies flit between flowers and drone of insects in the summer will remind you of summers past. Look up at the 100 foot Sequoya imported from Western Canada in the 1850s and watch the squirrels scamper up and down its trunk. The soft bark is home to bats including rare species, which will flit across hunting for insects. Use our bat detector to spot and identify the species. Level parking on a compacted gravel drive allows those with reduced mobility and wheelchair users to enter through the extra wide main door. Bramble's Barn is the middle barn and can be inter-linked with Cider Cottage and Valley View when needed for larger parties.

Meet the owner

Edward & Marian Drzymalski

Marian and Edward were VSO's (Voluntary Service Overseas) and then teachers, moving to Thatch Close in 1980. Six years were spent in converting the barns, which were completed in 2015 so everyone, including the less able, could share in the idyllic surroundings. Over the years we have extended and improved the garden, planted trees, re-laid hedges and brought the pond back to life. We share our home with Bella our dog and Zippy the African Grey Parrot.
