About & Contact

A beautifully positioned 10 bedroomed rural gem

This fabulous barn is located in a beautfiul River Dart valley just 5 minutes drive from Totnes. With wonderful views down the valley, this house is a peaceful retreat for friends and families who want to explore the river, coasts and moors all located within a 30 minute drive. And if you don't even want to get in a car, there are fabulous waterside walks accessible at the end of the drive taking you to a vineyard in one direction and the eclectic town of Totnes in the other.

The 10 bedrooms most of which have valley views and each with their own bathroom, can sleep 18 in comfort. The beautiful, well equipped kitchen and dining area is amply equipped for all your feasting needs. And when its sunny there is a huge table just outside so you can move seemlessly between the two areas should the weather be changeable! In the winter the lounge has plenty of sofas so you can all sit together; a great space to play games, watch moveis or just relax by the log burner.

This is a perfect spot to explore the River Dart with local canoe tours and paddleboard hire. There are riverside pubs within 5 minutes drive and Totnes is host to many independent shops, botiques and a lively weekend market.

Meet the owner

Jo Cooke

It's a privilege to share this beautiful valley with guests who visit, be it for a few days or longer. My family and I have lived nearby for a number of years and absolutely love it! The Shippon is a great house, the kind of place we would like to take our friends and family to. We hope it has everything you need and gives you a wonderful base to explore from - or just to hang out in, enjoying the views and being together, all under one roof!
