Malt House kitchen/dining

Two stunning 5*Gold luxury apartments in the heart of medieval York

You have a choice of two superb apartments.

If you need to be on one level The Hop Store should be your choice. You'll find it on the second floor of this award-winning Ogleforth Brewery conversion, with access to your door by lift or stairs. There is a generous open-plan living area, which is light and airy, thanks to the large warehouse windows and a Juliet balcony that  gives views over York Minster. High, beamed ceilings create a real sense of space, whilst underfloor heating ensures warmth throughout. Deep sofas offer ample seating for four, complemented by modern light oak furniture and rich brown leather chairs in the dining area.

The Malt House, our duplex apartment with the same quality and finish, matches the comfort, luxury and space of The Hop Store.  It is accessed by the original stone steps to the building.

Home entertainment in both is catered for with flat screen Freeview television in all bedrooms and living areas,  DVD players, iPod docking stations and free WiFi broadband. You have a free telephone for calls within the UK. Nothing has been overlooked in the superb kitchen areas. Classic cookware, cutlery, crockery and glassware will add style to a simple brunch, a romantic dinner, or even a quick and easy take-away.
/
The master bedrooms in both apartments are generously proportioned. The Hop Store offers a king-size bed, The Malt House a super-king. Both apartment master bedrooms have matching bespoke built-in furniture and a large en suite shower room, beautifully tiled, with a powerful shower and quality fittings. The twin bedrooms to each apartment also provide similar comfort for our guests. The twin rooms are served by a second bathroom.  We are proud  finalists in Visit York Tourism Awards  2012, 2013 and 2015.

Enjoy our complementary Yorkshire  Welcome Hamper and sample some of the excellent produce that our region provides.

A small but charming courtyard area with outdoor furniture is shared with other residents and guests.  It's the ideal spot for relaxing with a glass of wine after a day's sight-seeing.

We're situated on Ogleforth, a tranquil, ancient thoroughfare, adjacent to York Minster. You're minutes from The Shambles, the city walls, Betty's Tea Rooms, Cliffords Tower, Yorvik.  The famous Railway Museum is not to be missed!  Step outside and you are instantly surrounded by heritage, culture and entertainment. Restaurants, museums, wonderful shopping  theatres, historic buildings and galleries are all part of this wonderful city.

/
Private parking, for one car of normal width, is provided for each apartment, within a secure gated courtyard adjacent to the building.  Secure cycle storage is available in the basement.

Aside from so much to do and see within the city, York is situated in the centre of the three Ridings of Yorkshire. Why not visit The North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway featured in the Harry Potter movies, The Yorkshire Dales, stately Castle Howard, fashionable Harrogate or atmospheric Whitby?

York is cosmopolitan, friendly and fun. There is something for everyone and enough to merit at least a second visit!

Meet the owner

John or Angela Foster

We had always wanted to expand our holiday business into York, our favourite city. The chance came in 2011 when we were able to buy the newly-converted Hop Store, followed in 2013 by the Malt House. Let me introduce ourselves - John, Angela and our son, James Foster. We live and work in East Yorkshire and visit York each week to check both apartments. It gives us tremendous pleasure to spend part of our working lives in this delightful city. Our housekeeping team are first class and keep everything in immaculate condition. We will contact you by phone, usually on the day after you have arrived, just to ensure that you are comfortable and everything is in order. Many of our visitors choose to have a two-centre holiday, spending time with us at the Yorkshire Coast, following their stay in York. It's a complete contrast, but just as enjoyable.
