About & Contact

Luxury dog-friendly barn in North Cornwall

History and luxury combine in this spacious and comfortable barn, meticulously converted from the farm's old stables, and now offering a peaceful retreat for families, friends and couples looking to explore the nearby coast of North Cornwall.

Inside you'll find vaulted ceilings, oak beams and the original stable floor with huge time-worn granite flags. There's a woodburner for cosy evenings spent by the fire, snuggled into the huge corner sofa, and a characterful farmhouse kitchen, equipped with everything you need to whip up delicious meals using fresh Cornish produce.

Along the granite cobbled hallway you'll find the large master bedroom, with thick stone walls, a luxuriously comfortable Hypnos bed and an en suite shower room. There's plenty of room for travel cots too, which we provide along with lots of other baby-friendly equipment.

In the second bedroom are beautiful twin iron bedsteads, which can be joined to make a super king-size double - perfect for friends holidaying together, granny and grandad or couples who like a bedroom each (a generous 2 person discount is available).

The family bathroom has a slate flagstone floor, a freestanding roll-top bath and a large rainfall shower cubicle. Fluffy towels and gorgeous toiletries from Bramley are all provided for that 5* experience.

Outside, the old farmyard is now a sheltered courtyard and the perfect spot for breakfast in the sun, and there's a very private, wildlife-friendly woodland garden overlooking the farm. Here you'll find a firepit and barbecue and super-comfortable armchairs for evenings enjoying the magnificent west-facing views across Cornwall - the sunsets are incredible. This is a conservation area and you'll often hear the resident tawny owls calling to one another. Beyond the garden the smallholding beckons. With 7 acres, there's space to roam and play and friendly farm animals to meet. Up to 3 well-behaved dogs are welcome to join you, however they must be over 12 months of age and spayed or neutered.

Locally there's plenty to see and do and the area is renowned for being dog-friendly. There are sandy beaches and pretty fishing villages to explore, historic castles and National Trust properties to visit, Poldark and Doc Martin filming locations to discover, and of course you can't visit Cornwall without a trip to the famous Eden Project. The south coast is only half an hour away and we're ideally located near the Atlantic Highway for easy access to the whole of Cornwall and Devon. It's one of the reasons many of our guests return year after year!

Reviews for Stable Cottage at Tredarrup Farm Holiday Cottages

Meet the owner

Graham and Lorraine Lay

We’ve always been drawn to the rugged north coast of Cornwall so in 2017 we were thrilled to be able to finally take the plunge and move here. We fell in love with Tredarrup as soon as we drove up the long farm track, through the granite pillars, to be greeted by the most amazing rural views. Since then we’ve enjoyed upgrading the barns, turning each into the type of luxurious home from home we’d like to stay in ourselves. When we’re not greeting our guests, we can be found pottering about on the smallholding or walking the nearby South West Coast Path with our rescue dog, Lucky James MacDougal III (Lucky to his friends). We love sharing this special corner of Cornwall with our guests and are always on hand to give advice - equally we’re very happy to leave you alone to enjoy the peace and quiet!
