A Heavenly Stay in the Heart of Somerset

Upper Vobster Farm is a beautiful country property lovingly restored and created over the past 30 years where you can take a rest from the stresses of life. There are wonderful walks, animals to see, places to sit and time to be.

Perfect for couples and families, young and old, who want to come to a place where they can have a moment to breathe the air that we're all meant to breathe. Ideal for business and family events and celebrations. It's brilliant for groups and larger family stays, where everyone can get together but also have their own space for a 'stop' moment. Include a special dinner, in special surroundings, with a theme of your choosing, which we can help to bring to life. Celebrate in style.

The cottages are set in 55 acres of meadows, including a 6 acre wood, which is a nature conservation and preservation area for birds of prey. A stream meanders through the bottom of the wooded valley. Nature, the woods and the sounds of the birds will make you stop in your tracks and feel the magic around.

There are two small lakes with damsel flies and dragonflies, one with a beach with logs and rocks to sit on that also harbours a large number of newts and the other one, which is near an old stone bridge that leads you on to the old drovers way. You’ll find a flock of North Ronaldsay rare breed sheep, pygmy goats, various ducks which live in their own castle and many varieties of hens. On many days, you will see deer, buzzards, red kites and other wildlife. We even have Otters in the stream.

Grasses and wildflowers are abundant in summer; bluebells and wild garlic in spring and numerous fungi in autumn. Winter frosts leave an enchanting feel to treasure when you’re all wrapped up and can come back to a warm fire.

As our guest you are welcome to enjoy all that we have to offer.

Nestled in the Mendips in North Somerset there is plenty to do and explore. The market town of Frome and historic Nunney Castle are close by. Mells made famous by Jack Horner is a few minutes drive away. The City of Bath is only 13 miles and the cathedral city of Wells is definitely worth a visit. Book into Longleat Safari park which takes about 30 minutes to get to. Cheddar Gorge with its breath taking scenery and walks is a similar distance away and Stonehenge is within easy reach.

We have an abundance of excellent restaurants, pubs and cafes in the local area and for members of Soho House Group, Babington House is a few minutes drive away.

When you book with us, we will send you a digital guidebook which lists pretty well everything you need to know to make your stay with us as easy and enjoyable as possible.

Meet the owner

Michael and Tricia Nicholson

When Tricia first visited the property she felt the potential of what the place could hold and always knew that it would be somewhere for people to come to. What's more, she saw the real purpose of the Farm as a place that opens its doors to share with all those looking for supportive accommodation away from home. Upper Vobster Farm is the family home of Tricia & Michael Nicholson. Today the farm house is surrounded by cottages, a barn and a traditional farm courtyard that people come to enjoy from all around the world.
