About & Contact

Romantic hilltop tower with panoramic sea views

Vane Tower Penthouse forms the top two floors of a Grade II listed Italianate villa which has overlooked Torquay's harbour since 1872.

Recently renovated with central heating throughout, the apartment has its own entrance and a pretty garden for relaxing or alfresco dining with sea views. Both bedrooms are within the tower. The top bedroom has 12 windows giving almost 360 degree views from Berry Head and Brixham to distant Dartmoor. Binoculars are provided and one lucky guest spotted a pod of dolphins. The lower bedroom also has wonderful views and a zip and link bed which can be made up as a super king double or as twins. There are two shower rooms.

The modern kitchen has a breakfast bar, electric oven, ceramic hob, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine, fridge/freezer and mini Nespresso coffee machine. There is an open plan living room/diner with a smart TV including Freeview and Netflix.

Our unique location means we are minutes from award-winning beaches, the South West Coast Path, a coastal zoo, museums, prehistoric caves, restaurants, bars, shops and water sports. The Torquay to Brixham ferry leaves daily during the Summer from the harbour.

There are a lot of steps and the age and architecture of the building means that we cannot make it completely safe for young children so unfortunately we cannot take children under five.

Meet the owner

Katie and Steve Huxley

We are Katie and Steve, the owners of Vane Tower. When we first visited Torquay in 2017, we were stunned by the beautiful coastline and Torquay’s microclimate was another lovely surprise. We were at a crossroads in our life and decided a complete change was needed. Within three months we had sold our house in Kent and moved here. As luck would have it, Vane Tower was up for sale. We renovated the self-contained penthouse into a holiday apartment and let it out for the first time during 2019, joining Premier Cottages at the beginning of 2020. When we aren’t working we can be found on our paddleboards or hiking on the South West Coast Path. We are passionate about where we live and want our guests to enjoy this beautiful part of South Devon as much as we do. We hope to welcome you to stay with us soon.
