A beautifully renovated cottage with lovely views

The Gardeners Cottage Plas Llangoedmor. The name Llangoedmor translates to the; ‘Church in the trees by the sea’ which perfectly describes the idyllic situation of the Gardeners Cottage. Forming part of the private estate of Plas Llangoedmor located in a woodland village approximately half a mile from the bustling market town of Cardigan, the Teifi Estuary and coastline.

The Cottage was built around 1820 as home to the Head Gardener of the wonderful grounds and 1.5 acre walled garden belonging to the Plas. The estate today is 30 acres of fields and gardens containing a Grade II* listed main house and outbuildings including the Gardeners Cottage. The property has a fascinating history which is well documented in the Welsh archives and a number of publications. We leave guests a copy of the ‘Squires of South Wales’ written by one of the previous owners of the estate describing life of a squire in the early 1900s.

The cottage itself was recently restored and combines character period features including slate floors, exposed stonework and timbers with the best of modern design. The property has a stunning orangery style lounge with woodburner, end-to-end glass and bi-fold doors which open onto a large private garden with panoramic views over the surrounding estate and the ancient St Cynllo’s Church.

The cottage is part of an award winning collection of luxury properties that have all been interior designed to reflect and celebrate the local area, using top quality local products such as Melin Tregwynt welsh wool, antiques and fine art by local artists. The property is perfect for a family or cosy couple’s hideaway with two large bedrooms with super king beds, one of which that can be arranged flexibly to a twin bedroom to suit different requirements – (an extra bed can also be provided if needed). There are two luxury bathrooms, one being an en suite with huge walk-in rain shower. A large well-appointed internal kitchen/diner leads to an outdoor kitchen complete with pizza oven and barbecue.

The property sits proudly in large open gardens of its own, great for dogs who are also provided with a special outside hot water shower to clean up after those long walks across coast and country. Pete and Kath Austin

We fell in love with West Wales and moved to Cardigan in 2013, started to learn Welsh and then in 2015 we purchased Sherwood House and in 2018 Headland Cottage. The properties are located in spectacular locations, with front-line views to either Estuary or Sea views and both needing total renovation. We have designed open plan kitchens to take full advantage of their views and unique positions, luxury bathrooms, designer wallpapers and fabrics. We pride ourselves on welcoming our guests personally and as we live locally we can be on hand if you need anything during your stay. We are here to help you to discover the beauty spots, family (and dog) friendly attractions, and local cultural events. Alternatively if you just want to relax and go absolutely no-where, both properties have an outdoor kitchen and spaces to relax providing the perfect retreat.
