Whatever your family makeup, we have a luxury family-friendly cottage in Devon to suit your needs.

Devon is the perfect place for the most active or inactive family members to enjoy a holiday to the full. From wide open beaches with horizon vistas, to Dartmoor walks up hills or mountains covered with heather, the scenery is spectacular. Laze in the southern Sun on the white sands of Bantham or surf the Atlantic westerly swells on the north beaches of Croyde and Woolacombe.

If the weather is good and you’re staying in North Devon, then a boat trip to the island of Lundy from Illfracombe is a spectacular experience to remember. Lundy is a granite outcrop in the Bristol Channel three miles long and half a mile wide, accessible only by boat. Its remote location makes it a natural habitat for wildlife, the UK’s own Galapagos, as well as a walker’s paradise with natural rugged beauty.

Look out for colonies of seabirds such as puffins and Manx shearwaters as well as feral goats and wild ponies on the island or seals, dolphins and whales in the protected waters surrounding Lundy.

For the really adventurous, you could try a Snorkell Safari or diving to view as many as 2500 sea creatures in a single square metre of seabed, due to the island and its surrounding waters being granted the UK’s first Marine Conservation Zone in 2010.

Across South Devon there’s more activities for your family that Visit South Devon has put together in its list of 50 free activities. Watch the fishermen return from a day of small boat fishing at Beer or Brixham, go letterboxing on Dartmoor or cycle the Exe Estuary Trail are just a small selection to whet your family’s appetite.
