Where are the best dog walks in Wales? Wales is a rural dream, with a wealth of amazing places for you and your dog to immerse yourselves in. If you fancy a refreshing seaside jaunt, the picturesque coasts of the Gower Peninsula and Pembrokeshire offer miles of golden sands and secluded coves. Moving inland there is of course, the Brecon Beacons – a wind scoured upland area dividing South Wales from the rolling valleys of Mid Wales. The wide-open space and epic views in the Beacons are something to behold. If you feel like some history, Wales has more ancient castles per square mile than anywhere else in the UK. Many of them have wooded parkland your dog can explore. A perfect and relaxed day out.

For true adventure, the pinnacle of Welsh dog walks can be found in the wilderness to the north, Snowdonia. Over 800 square miles of rugged mountains, carved by ice age glaciers. Snowdon is the highest mountain in Wales and England. It’s an end of the earth type of place, for intrepid explorers. Both beautiful and sublime and steeped in legend. Some say King Arthur’s sword is at the bottom of a cold Snowdonia lake – though which one is debated.

Booking yourself a dog friendly cottage in Wales will be one the best decisions you make. You’ll thank yourself and it’ll make your dog incredibly happy. Like the pioneer settlers in America, head out west to the untamed lands over the horizon.
