Premier Cottages really is different. We are not an agency. We are a membership organisation of high quality professional property owners, who have joined together to collectively promote our properties, but under our own individual terms.

Because we are not an agency, there are no agency fees or commission to pay, just an annual membership fee based on the number of properties you have, the number of people (sleepers) you can accommodate and the size of advert taken in our annual, highly sought after, glossy brochure.   This is considerably less than you would pay in commission to an agency. As a Premier Member, you are free to run your business the way you want to, having full control over your pricing and availability, with every penny from every booking coming directly to you.

Premier Cottages is a membership organisation, run by members for the benefit of its members. The co-operative nature of our business means there is an active member-to-member support network of like-minded individuals, with a wealth of knowledge and experience, who are willing to help one another with advice, information and booking referrals. 

Regional meetings and our annual member conference keep members up to date on the latest tourism news and industry trends.

Our Board of Directors, all self-catering business owners in their own right, works tirelessly to influence key decision makers in Visit England, EASCO and their national counterparts, at Government level, to ensure members’ concerns are heard and acted upon.

Premier Cottages gives you the freedom and flexibility to run your business the way you want to and to treat your guests as simply that – your guests.

All contact and correspondence is between you and your guests. There are no call centres, handling agents or automated switchboards for your guests to negotiate. Personal service is a cornerstone of the Premier Cottages ethos.

Premier Cottages has a quality, active database of loyal discerning customers who request and receive our annual brochure, along with regular email campaigns and newsletters.

Premier has a dedicated PR department to gain media coverage for members, with established relationships with national Travel Editors of major newspapers and magazines, securing on average 40 press mentions per month for our members.

Most of our members are professional self-caterers, who are passionate about providing the very highest quality self-catering holiday experience for their guests.

All members are committed to both the Premier Cottages ‘All Inclusive’ pricing policy, meaning there are no booking fees or hidden charges, and the ‘Premier Promise’, where our members promise to do their utmost to make each guest’s holiday perfect in every way.

Premier Cottages’ members have won most of the national 'Visit England Awards for Excellence in Tourism' top awards the Self Catering category every year since 2007. Our members have won 17 out of the 21 total Gold, Silver and Bronze awards in the last 7 years. In addition, our members have won National awards every year in the Sustainable and Accessible Tourism categories.

As professional self-caterers, our members want to retain control of their business model and pricing, while taking advantage of the marketing power of a bigger group. Premier Cottages has one of the largest databases of any self-catering business, with nearly 200,000 customer records of past guests (bigger than the vast majority of tourist boards). This is always expanding from our annual member data sharing and various other campaigns run through the year.

We send our brochure to all guests who have stayed with a member in the last 2 years. All customers are marketed to in our email campaigns and with the progression of our data we can target people based on preferences and demographic, and offer alternatives such as a choice between paper or electronic brochures.

We have a well-developed digital marketing programme which includes content development for the website and blog, an ongoing SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) programme to ensure our website has high organic ranking on Google, and strong social media platforms (our Facebook has the highest followers per cottage of stock in the sector)

Premier has a dedicated PR department which creates plenty of opportunities to gain media coverage for members. Our PR has good relationships with the national Travel Editors of the major newspapers and magazines, and we secure on average about 40 press mentions a month.

Premier has full foreign language websites in German, French and Dutch, giving us direct access to the European markets.

The co-operative nature of our business means that members are willing to help one another to obtain bookings and are there to give advice.

Regional meetings and the AGM give members a fantastic platform for sharing information with fellow members, and having their say in the running of Premier.

Members are kept informed on matters within the industry and relevant legislation changes through monthly newsletters.

Along with other industry bodies such as EASCO, Premier Cottages campaigns on behalf of members to prevent unfavourable legislation.

What are we looking For?

We require that all cottages be rated by their national tourist board and must have achieved a QIT grading of High 4 star (84%) or above.

Premier Cottages' Mission

Established nearly 20 years ago, Premier Cottages is unique - an association of members solely marketing independently owned 5 and high 4 star luxury self-catering holiday cottages in Great Britain and Ireland. It exists to promote its members' interests, not to make profit. All the membership fees are spent on marketing members’ properties. The Board is totally made up of cottage-owning members with an intimate knowledge of the market. The ethos is to enable members to retain full control of their own business (unlike many agencies, who will impose their own pricing model on you), and to support them in marketing their property in a professional and affordable way.

We help owners to maximise their income by ensuring we provide the highest quality self-catering holiday accommodation and customer care. By maintaining the quality of our brand we only recruit like-minded cottage owners with 5 and high 4 star graded properties.

Your personal annual fee depends on your total capacity and will be calculated once we receive your completed application form. The vast majority of owners find that this fee is significantly less (as a percentage of bookings generated) than would be the case with an agency. In addition, you set your own prices, take your own bookings and are in full control of your own business.
